“Great local taste in a convinient location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Great choice of local nyonya dish with ample varieties to choose from. Moderate spiciness and good presentation will tickle your taste buds. Try their sweet deserts and you will be amaze with the taste combination...

“Great quality Chinese food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

As an expat in KL, I'm a little fussy on the quality of the food here. I'm not yet at the acceptance levels to eat street food all the time.

Madam Kwans had an extensive menu of good quality Chinese and Malaysian food. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere in there was very good!

Would recommend and visit again!

“An Authentic Malaysian Chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013 via mobile

Well the queue of locals has to be some kind of endorsement! It's the kind of place you get taken to by a local business to experience local dishes. The food is fine, the atmosphere lacks. It's a place you go to eat not to dine. The food is good, well cooked but it doesn't have that home cooked feel the name suggests.

“Reasonable but hectic restaurant in the Mid Valley shopping mall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

During a recent business trip, the first evening for our team was planned in a separate dining room at this Madam Kwan's restaurant. I was a little disappointed to find that it was located in the middle of a huge shopping mall, sandwiched between the designer boutiques and other similar shops. The place was completely full and our group was ushered to a raised seating area which could be curtained off from the rest of the restaurant - hardly a separate dining room. At times I could not hear myself speak - conversation with fellow diners was not easy. The whole experience was also one of a hectic rush. The waiters were competent but clearly extremely busy. I'm also rather old fashioned and I don't like ordering from a plastic menu card with brightly coloured photos of "set meals" in a rather up market McDonalds fast food type style.
The food itself was authentic Malay and I enjoyed particularly the beef rendang accompanied by coconut rice. Somehow the atmosphere didn't seem conducive for drinking beer (or any alcoholic beverage). I plumped for a lychee iced drink which was refreshing enough.
So, for a place to grab a local, authentic bite to eat at the end of a hard days shopping - why not? As a location for a business meal in quiet, calm surroundings - this particular Madam Kwan's branch is not one that I could recommend.

“Good mix of local food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

MKs is an upscale food court, without intending to belittle it.

I eat there once a month or so. It is clean and the food is tasty. The service is pretty poor, but that seems to be the standard at restaurants in KL, with a few exceptions.

Previous reviews have mentioned the Kway Teow. It is great and what I order at least 50% of the time I go to MKs.
