We tried Yadkin Valley for my Aunt's birthday after reading other glowing reviews left before us. I've decided that these reviews are either friends of the steakhouse or they are locals that have never been to an upscale restaurant in a metro area. Anyone else would know better.
The atmosphere was a bit rustic but has an intimate feel and was decorated nicely for the holidays. Our server was very kind and attentive--so no issues there. The brown mini loaves were warm and fresh--but those are the best attributes Yadkin has to offer.
The criticism I mostly have for this establishment is in regards to what they are "trying" to be and what they have to offer for the prices they charge.
The steak dinners we ordered averaged approx $20 per person. For that price I would expect real butter (not spread), romaine lettuce at a minimum (not iceberg please) and never, EVER serve your customers a reheated baked potato! (I sent mine back)
I don't understand what the value of steak being cooked on a rock is, but I assure you, we do better when we go to the grocery & cook ours at home than this! Outback & TX roadhouse can give a better cut and quality steak than any in of our party received and for much less cost.
Our poor waiter left my husbands ribeye in front of me, because you visually could not tell the difference between it and the sirlion. Steaks should not be this thin for $20!! They were like the ones you receive at Quincy's but not nearly as tasty.
The birthday dessert came out and you wonder how can you screw up an ice cream fudge cake, right? I'll tell you... By not using real ice cream or real whipped cream!
Thin, dry, steaks, reheated baked potatoes, fake desserts...at these prices? Blasphemy! If Chef Ramsey was there I imagine there would be lots of yelling and bleeping going on!
It was quite painful for us to smile & pay our $85 pre-tip bill for 3 adults & one child (no alcohol,no apps, & no charge for the fake dessert) but our biggest concern was not being negative & spoiling our elderly Aunt's celebration. Needless to say we will be back...never!
