“Not bad but not that good...”

This hotel has definitely seen better days and is now showing it's age. The rooms are of course clean (being Japan) but do look quite worn down. They are surprisingly large for Japan and are well appointed with a flat screen TV and free wi-fi.
Of some concern however was a very strong and somewhat unpleasant odor in the (non-smoking) rooms. Hard to pin down what it smelt of (chemically) but it wasn't nice.
The hotel is conveniently located in the center of Nagasaki so there a lot of places to eat nearby and it's also near, if not in, Nagasaki's China Town.
The entrance to the hotel can be quite confusing as it's essentially down a (large) alleyway so not where you'd expect it to be resulting in me taking a walk around the block before entering. With this in mind, and the fact the hotel is in the very center of a city, don't expect a good view from the rooms.
Staff spoke good English and were very polite and accommodating.

Room Tip: The first room I checked into (#714) was noisy due to an A/C unit outside. Even with the window clos...

Good hotel in the middle of central Nagasaki next to the street cars (tram) stop that will take you anywhere in the city.
Hotel is located close to the shopping arcade and China town. All with good restaurants.
The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help me with tickets for Hashima Island and directions to places I wanted to see. Along with lots of city maps with drawn out directions and English translations.

The main reason we booked this hotel was because it was the only one in Nagasaki (and I contacted a lot) that I could get to confirm that we could get connecting rooms – one single room (which had one double bed) and one twin room (which had two double beds). Perfect for our family of five, and apparently they didn’t charge us for elementary school age children using existing bedding, which was a bonus.
The location was fantastic, and we loved returning to the hotel at the end of every day (and sometimes during the day). Tram stop virtually right outside, nice colonial-style bar downstairs (opening out on to a pedestrian laneway with many eateries), beer vending machine on our floor! English-speaking staff, too, who gave some good guidance, and they even helped me print something out.
Only downsides: the connecting rooms are on the smoking floor (we were on level 9). It smelt like the 1970’s when we first checked in, but they apparently used some machines to get rid of the smell and by that night/the next morning we couldn’t really notice it in our room – though the hallway still smelt smoky every time we left our room.
The other downside was that the air-conditioner wasn’t great, and we there in July, so it was very warm out and about. The air-conditioner could work hard, but then it was very noisy (so at night we almost had a choice between noise or cooling). However, during our stay they were fixing/replacing the air-conditioners on floors 3 through 9. So this could have been fixed by now.

Situated in a great area for shopping and dining, everything is walking distance, trolley's, buses, grocery and plenty of places to eat. Hotel is nice and rooms are a good size for Japan, if you stay on the 10th floor they are much bigger. Rooms are a bit outdated and in need of upgrade, especially the carpets but the rooms are kept clean. Been here twice for business and would return. Not sure everyone follows the rules for non smoking rooms.

Room Tip: if you want to pay a little extra, get on the 10th floor, for business travelers this is usually fal...

The location is very convenient. It is a short walk to the covered shopping streets and Chinatown. The room is standard size but considered big in Japan. The hotel is a bit old but kept well and clean, I think it used to be Holiday Inn, and new split-type air-conditioner is fitted. Free in-room wi-fi. Car park is near. Room-rate is cheap.

This is an odd hotel, with neither facade nor back on the street. You enter through a lane-way in the front and, in the back, the access is through the bar onto a wide shopping lane. It is convenient as there are shops nearby, grocery stores, tram stops and it is an easy walk to almost everywhere. However, the bar area is always filled with smoke and the smell permeates the lobby and yourself as you walk through. Many rooms are smoking, so the floors smell, even if the housekeepers open all the windows and air out each floor in the morning. The smell is everywhere.
However, the price is good and the service is impeccable.

Centrally-located. Clean, comfortable and modern rooms. What else?
Stayed there 3 nights, winter, in a standard room. It was nicely-sized for two guests. View wasn't astonishing, but at least we weren't facing a brick wall. Very near the Shianbashi bar/restaurant district, and a mere 4 tram stops away from the train station.

Only drawback: the breakfast, though plentiful, takes place in a windowless room, dimly-lit and rather stuffy<

Room Tip: It may be that rooms nearer the top of the hotel have better views than the lower stories...?
