Very nice hotel, clean, with upscale rooms on the higher floors. Great central location. I felt very comfortable here, and would definitely go back again.
As the others reviewres said, this hotel is absolutely OK: in a good location, big rooms, quite comfortable bed, nice view on the river, clean.
I reserved on the ich website and paid for a standard room, but they gave us a superior room in an hig floor. Nice surprise.
The problem is that I paid almost 100 $ more than in Tokyo and the hotel was not that nice. It's old, I think form the 80s, and if the bed (I think) is new, the other furnitures, bathroom etc are the originals.
The only free thing you have in room is green tea, but for that price I expect a choice of teas and instant coffee, at least.
I know nothing about the breakfast becasue it was ridicously expensive, the only thing in line with rating.
Before checking out, I asked for a form to review the hotel and the service (normally you find it in the room...), and they told me they don't have that service. Strange thing for a chain hotel...
Finally, I don't think this hotel is worth the money it costs, but the location is really OK, so take it f you don't have any other option in that area.
Initially we wanted to stay at Kyoto, but every hotels were fully booked, so we stayed at Osaka instead (it's only 1/2 hour train to Kyoto). We chose to stay at ANA Hotel because of its location and reputation. The hotel is within walking distance to Osaka Station(10 mins walk). The staff were very polite and very helpful. After coming back from Kyoto in the evening, we enjoyed a bit of shopping at the basement of the walk-way tunnel around Osaka station before heading back to the hotel. The hotel is also situated in the centre of the busy nightlife of Osaka. Surrounded with cool bars and restaurants, it also has 24 convenient store right next to the hotel. With many business people walking about all night made we feel kind of safe because of the buzz going on at night time around the hotel. The room we stayed was a non-smoke twin, small as expected from a hotel in Japan but has enough room to move our luggage around. The room was clean and has everything we needed. Trousers press, slippers, Clothes brush, extra pillows (japanese beads and western style). The bathroom was very clean and has a new power shower (which was really nice after a long day). The hotel also provide good bathroom amenities, apart from the usual toothbrush/shower cap se, it even provided facial wash, shaving kit, cotton pads and even a hair band. All products are also high quality 'shiseido' brand. Overall, the hotel did live up to its expected high quality reputation, we'd highly recommend it !!!
The staff is really so nice and kind. Service is good. Rooms are a little bit small but clean and you can find everything you need. The location is great, very close to metro station, restaurants and shopping centers.
Restaurants are quite good but not cheap. But they charge to hotel guests for the pool and sauna(about 3300 japanese yen).
We stayed at the ANA Hotel Osaka for one night this Christmas Eve 12/24/2005, because I couldn't find other decent hotels in Osaka for that night. What a wonderful surprise!! I didn't read about any reviews on this hotel, unlike Hotel Nikko Osaka which we stayed 3 nights before, and Hotel Granvia Kyoto, which we stayed 3 nights after.
Our family of four all wished we could stay longer. The hotel is located south of Osaka Umeda station, about 10-min walk from the station (or 660 Yen by Taxi), in the nice Kita-ku district. We checked into the hotel early, around 11am, so we left our luggages there, and went to Himeji that day. We came back around 8pm. The nice reception person took us to our room, the luggages are already there. The staff spoke decent English. The room was very spacious, with two double beds, a sitting area with two sofas. The room seemed brand new, with high-quality carpeting and wood floor. The bathroom was new and very clean. The beds were very comfortable.
At night, there were plenty of nice bars and resturants in the neighborhood. Or you could take the subway to Dotonbori or Shinsaibashi for more shopping and cuisine choices.
The rate for our room was about $180 (on Expedia) including tax and breakfast for two. For breakfast, you have the choice of Western style buffet, or Japanese style breakfast set. Both are top-quality!
Compared to Hotel Nikko Osaka and Hotel Granvia Kyoto, the ANA Hotel Osaka is definitely in the same rank, if not better. The room is more spacious, beds are bigger. Breakfast (worth about $40) was included in the price, which made it a better deal than the other two hotels. The only downside is that its location is in between Kita-ku and Minami-ku. It's not inside a subway or rail-station. So a little walking or Taxi is required.
Overall, we loved the hotel!
