Great for families, although pool is pricey
Four of us stayed two nights at Westin Osaka in a hot August. Location is very good, and hotel runs a shuttle bus every 15 mins from JR train station.
Concierge was very helpful -- booked bus tour of Kyoto for us on one day.
Breakfast buffet was first class, and available at no charge if you can be on executive club level.
Rooms are very large, and stayed pretty cool even in the heat of Osaka summer.
Excellent hotel -- deluxe but not snooty.

I recently stayed in the Westin Hotel in Osaka, I must say it was my worst ever "Westin experience". I will not be going back. My husband is a Platinum member, so we try to stay in Westin Hotels when ever possible. My husband had to cancel at the last moment so I went with a recently widowed friend. I was of course expecting all of the Westin benefits granted to a platinum member but was informed that because my husband hadn't come all would be denied. After push and shove I was allowed to use the executive lounge but my friend was made to pay. I have stayed all over the world in Westin Hotels alone and received my husband's benefits but the Osaka Westin just treated me like a difficult foriegner although I speak Japanese. It was all too much of an effort. It made it obvious that they run by the rule book and lack warmth in service.

Whilst not in the centre of Osaka, the Westin's location next to the extraordinary "Floating Garden Observatory" is extremely pleasant and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance.

As one would expect from a Westin, the service in the hotel is exemplary and the rooms are fantastic, huge rooms with ample seating and desk space with web connection, big beds with crisp linen and gorgeous bathrooms with separate walk in showers.

The bars are expensive, but that's not unusual in a 5 star hotel and you can always walk around the corner to somewhere more Japanese.

I really didn't want to leave the Westin and would have moved in permanently if I could have afforded to!

The Westin Osaka is not necessarily convenient to anything by walking distance, but is a very good choice for business travelers looking to stay in Osaka. It's a very solid performer, and the hotel staff is excellent, even by Asian standards.

The hotel rooms are a little worn, and could use a refresh. However, everything was clean and comfortable.

Very solid choice for Osaka, especially for Starwood loyalists.
