“One of the best hotels in Osaka”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2012

As a New Otani hotel member I have stayed here many times. The New Otani is a great hotel with great service and very large open lobby. Location, location is great within walking distance to Osaka Castle, park, Osaka Business Park (OBP) or even the JR and Keihan Kyobashi train station. The hotel's convenience can't be any better for business or tourism. I will return.

“Nice and comfortable, just not quite a luxury hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

The New Otani Osaka might be located just next to Osaka Castle, but it is pretty far from everywhere else. Getting to this hotel from Kansai Airport, or even the Osaka JR Station can be quite troublesome, as it involves a change of trains plus a ten-minute walk to the hotel. This can be especially tiring if you are carrying a lot of luggage. But if you are willing to splurge a little and take a taxi from a nearby train station, the New Otani is a familiar name and most taxi drivers will know the place.

This hotel is also located in the business district of the city, so do not expect to see any malls nearby. The neighboring buildings are mostly offices, with a couple of convenience stores, a pharmacy and some run-of-the-mill restaurants nearby. The New Otani is not located in a fancy district, and the area can get pretty lonely at night after dark. Getting to town from this hotel also involves a walk though part of the Osaka Castle park, which can get really dark at night.

While the New Otani might market itself as a luxury hotel, it probably feels just slightly fancier than a regular guest hotel. The staff were always polite, and those at the front desk were mostly proficient in English. However, they do not seem to like smiling very much. When it comes to service, the staff have been consistently prompt in attending to requests.

The Superior Twin room that I stayed in was nothing fancy, although the furniture seemed fairly new. However, the decor was plain, and even came across as a little tacky. The beds were comfortable, and but the room was a little small. For its price, I would have expected a slightly roomier accommodations. This hotel also charges for Internet use, and it can be quite expensive if you travel of business or need to go online on a daily basis.

In all, the New Otani Osaka is a pretty average hotel that offers a comfortable stay, but none of the frills and perks you will find from a luxury establishment.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with a view of the nearby Osaka Castle.

“I really enjoyed staying there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

Although I generally don't like big hotels, this one is different. Located in a very nice place, close to the park and Osaka Castle. Also conveniently close to JR Loop line railway, and Keihan lane.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, and they do speak English.
Even though I had a basic room, I still enjoyed a comfortable bed and lots of amenities. The rooms are clean and the furniture doesn't look dated.
Wired Internet is available in the rooms for a fee, however you can get free WiFi access at the lobby if you fill in the NewOtaniClub Members form at the reception.
Breakfast is very delicious, with choice of European and Japanese cuisine.

Room Tip: Get a castle view room, Try Japanese food for a breakfast - it's delicious, Get your free WiFi access by filling the Club Member form at the reception

“Very Honest Staff!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

We went to this hotel for a company outing...
Pros of this hotel:
-English speaking staff
-Convenient location (Near Osaka Castle and Subway Lines)
- Very Honest Staff, I left my bag with ALL my valuables in the hotel, as I was about to go to the airport to fly out, they stopped the bus that we were boarding to notify us regarding the lost bag! Thank God they were very efficient and on time or else I would have lost my stuff!
Cons - None that I could think off!

“Relaxing hotel for business trip, but a bit expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

Located at Osaka Business Park subway station, near Osaka park and Osaka castle. Good to practice running or jogging before business.
Near Kyobashi station, good for travelling around through Keihan or JR lines.
Very good bed, free use of cotton made japanese pyjamas.
Very good japanese and american breakfast. Ask for your expresso as you arrive in the breakfast restaurant.
Try japanese bath at the fitness center (you need 1 hour), you won't regret it. You don't need swimming suit or towels, they give it to you.
Good japanese cooking show in the restaurant 18th floor.
Good bar (Castle) until 0:00 with coktails and all kind of drinks.
