“Great Location, Good Value, Free Wifi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

This is one of the newest hotels in Osaka and its a great location, just 5 mins from Nakatsu Subway and the Umeda/Osaka Station. It's quiet but still convenient. Rooms are decent by Japanese standards. Many affordable restaurants nearby. Opt for the buffet breakfast as its hard to find a decent sit down meal early in the morning. Simple selection with both Japanese and Western sections, items are rotated and we stayed 7 nights and only had the same items twice at most. And it has free wifi throughout the hotel so you don't have to huddle in the lobby and the signal is strong so you can surf comfortably. Would stay here again

The hotel was clean, nice and good value for money. The location was excellent. I would stay there again. The hotel was in walking distance from the Hankyu and JR station. Very close to shopping and restaurants. Though the room was small, it is to be expected in Osaka. I highly recommend this hotel since it is a great place if you want to travel to Kobe, Kyoto and Himeji.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor

Good location: located along the midosuji line, its one stop away from umeda station (nakatsu station). You can choose to walk from umeda (tons of shopping and food along the way) or take one stop and stop at nakatsu. Just 3 mins away from Nakatsu and 10 mins walk away from umeda

Affordable room: a hotel chain that is respectable. Clean room with quick check in service

The room is considered big for Japan standards.

:)

This was our first time to Japan (came straight from Tokyo to Osaka on the shinkansen) so trying to make our way from JR Osaka to the hotel was a bit frustrating (especially lugging 3 suitcases around and not knowing where to go). We eventually got there - about 10-15 min walk.

We discovered that Nakatsu subway station is alot closer than Umeda/Osaka (2-3 min walk).

We stayed in a small double room - it was real small but had everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Requested a room on a higher floor, which we got (Level 18).

No wifi in the room but free LAN access was available (perfect for my Mac). I didn't bring a universal adaptor, lucky the hotel had an adaptor for me to use :-)

We only stayed the 1 night and paid AUD$68 - cheap! Staff at the lobby were friendly and spoke English very well.

In total, we had stayed 10 days in Hearton Kitaumeda. In the middle of the trip, we checked-out to stay in Kyoto.

Space is a concern. The walking space in a twin-sharing room, is as big as the aisle in the aircraft. That is just enough space for you to open up 1 hardcase luggage at one time.

Breakfast is provided in the hotel. 7am - 930am.
For first few days, it was still enjoyable. But there was limited variety and food is always the same.
Japanese food - miso soup, rice, some Japanese dishes etc.
Western food - hash brown, hard-boiled eggs, buns, salad etc.
Thus, when we checked in into the hotel the second time, we were getting sick of the breakfast.
It would be more enjoyable if you are having a short stay there.

Free wifi is not available in the room. Thus, every evening after dinner time, you will see guests sitting at the lobby using their handphones & laptops.

In terms of location, I agree with another tripadvisor member - the hotel is much nearer to Nakatsu subway, which is facing Ramada Hotel.
Nakatsu is 1 stop after Umeda station in central Osaka. From there, about 5mins walk to the hotel.

However, on the first day of arriving Osaka with our luggage/s, it was a hassle for us to get to the hotel.
We took the train from Kansai International Airport to JR Osaka station in Osaka central (the airport train does not go to Nakatsu subway station).
JR Osaka station and Umeda subway station are connected, via the mega-underground shopping mall. But it is a long & tedious walk, when you have big luggages. If you are a first-timer to Osaka, you feel like you are in a maze in the underground. You will need to follow the signs faithfully to get to Umeda subway station.
And in many Osaka subway stations, there are more steps than elevators. Limited number of escalators too.

When you finally get to Umeda subway station, Nakatsu is just 1 stop away. The hotel is a 5 mins walk away, behind Ramada Hotel.

On the return trip to Kansai International Airport, I decided to take the Airport Limousine Bus. Bus tickets can be purchased in advance, from the reception counter at Hankyu International Hotel, which is just 3mins walk from Hearton Kitaumeda. It is a much more convenient way to get to the airport.

* Please note, do not be confused with another hotel, Hankyu New Hotel. They are 2 different hotels.
* There are limited pick-up times at Hankyu International Hotel. Alternatively, you can lugged your luggages to Hankyu New Hotel, where the Airport Limousine Bus terminal is located. More options for pick-up time.
* This Bus, pick-up time @ 7.35am, travels from Hankyu International Hotel, to Hankyu New Hotel & Hilton Hotel, and then direct route to Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 in Kansai International Airport.

On other days when you do not have to lug your luggages around, Hearton Kitaumeda offers conveniences for you to find food & great shopping. It is a few minutes walk to a Hankyu Umeda station. From there, it is well-connected to Umeda subway station & JR Osaka station via the mega-underground shopping mall & Hankyu Department Mall.

If your budget permits, Hankyu International Hotel is much nearer to Hankyu Umeda station. Diagonally opposite the station.

Location: Strategic, 2 minutes walk away from a subway station, your key to any destination from there on. There is a Family mart 1 minute walk away, very convenient. The streets are not as crowded, perfect.
Staff: Very friendly and reliable. A common trait of Japanese hospitality.
Room: Very clean, new and cozy. Could't ask for more with the price tag. Although it is small, (quite standard for a superior room in Japan), its nonetheless comfortable, pleasant and no complain.
Highly recommended!

Great service and super friendly staff, willing to help with anything! Great location, within walking distance of Umeda train station. The only problem I encountered was that the bathroom wasn't as clean as expected, there were lots of marks on the walls which looked like someone had dyed their hair and sprayed it on the walls. Other than that, a great experience and would definitely stay again!
