“Best place for the family and Sumo....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2014 via mobile

Almost all the good things were already been said about this hotel. I will just add that this is the place to stay during the Sumo Competition in Osaka. The venue or known as Bodymaker Colosseum around 2 minutes walk from the hotel and a good udon place right next door. You really can't fault this place, right outside is the famous Ippudo ramen on your left is the Namba parks and train stations etc..etc..We will stay here again soon...

We had a wonderful 6 night stay in Fraser Residences Nankai.

I reserved directly with the hotel as I tried booking at the site and it said there wasn't available rooms, so I tried my luck in emailing them - and they still had a 2bedroom available. They gave me two (2) rates, one was with breakfast and the other was without breakfast. I've read reviews that the restaurant that serves the breakfast is quite a walk and is a little slow in serving. So when we got to the Fraser Residences, we opted to go without the breakfast. You don't need to pay in advance to reserve.

Location is really good. It was very near the Namba/Nankai Station, but its quite a walk and a huge effort to bring around luggages. You'd need to use the lifts and walk and cross the street to get to Fraser Residences. There is no bell service in Fraser Residences, so you'd still need to bring the luggage up to the room by yourself. Good thing that checking in wasn't a problem and it was done in less than 5 minutes. Checking out was a breeze too! The problem really lies on the transport of your luggages to and from the Nankai station - as its quite a walk if you have baggages with you (as with us, we (3adults) had 3 luggages to push + a stroller and 2 toddlers) Good thing there's a lift! Unfortunately, going up the platform (to Kansai Airport) you need to use the es

Room is immaculately clean and complete with amenities of a serviced apartment. I like the fact that it had a living area so we got to move around the room a bit and enjoy the space and privacy, the area of the room is 70 SqMt . AC in the rooms were individually controlled and that was good too! Bathroom is very spacious! The common bathroom's shower is superb! I didn't want to get out of the shower anymore!

Water bottles and toiletries are replenished everyday. You'd need to purchase laundry detergent from the front desk as they don't give if out for free. There is a manual for operating all the appliances in the room - you'd need to read through first and its easy to understand as it had illustrations! Very good right?

The plates and glasses and utensils are cleaned by the housekeeping staff everyday (if you leave them on the sink), even if there is a dishwasher available.

Staff speak very good english and helps you out when you have questions. One thing that I liked is that they have printed out instructions on how to get to certain destinations like the Universal Studios Japan, Osaka Castle, Osaka Aquarium and etc. It is very detailed - tells you which train to take on what platform and how long of a walk it will take to reach the place. Very convenient. They also lend you umbrellas (it rained on our 3rd day). Front desk staff is very helpful and accommodating (I asked for tissues every so often because of allergies with the weather)

Fraser is quite a walk from the Namba Subway station, but is manageable. Takashimaya and Namba Parks are nearby. Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori & Ebisu shopping streets are a 10minute walk away. Location is very good if you ask me, perfect to be very honest! There's a Family Mart nearby, McDonald's is almost across the hotel (and is open 24/7) there's an Ippudo right across the hotel lobby and a place that makes Okonomiyaki around the curb.

I would DEFINITELY stay here again when I visit Osaka.

The only thing I disliked was the car noises (since there's a highway nearby) you may hear sirens at night. But I guess, its part of it.

Pictures on the website is quite accurate! :)

Room Tip: Request a higher floor so that it won't be as noisy..

We are willing to stay at the same property in our next visit:
1. Housekeeping did an outstanding job during the entire length of our stay. It was a great feeling to return to a spic-and-span room after a full day.
2. Concierge personnel were alert and very responsive/helpful to our queries re: room amenities and getting around the city.
3. Fabulous location - close to train station and reasonable walking distance to nearby shopping and eating places.

Just of couple of letdowns, i.e. room size was much smaller than what we expected based on online hotel photos; and room rate is not really cheap despite being an apartment hotel.

We had a two bedroom and a one bedroom apartment for our family . The two bedroom had an extra bathroom , much bigger kitchen , dining area .From memory the cost was only a third more for the 2 bdr so if you want a lot of space go for the 2 bdr. Having said that even the 1 bdr had so much more space than any other hotel accom we had in japan . Huge bathrooms. Love the silky pyjamas they provide .The location is fantastic , shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity . The staff are just wonderful , everyone on reception , lovely and hard working cleaning staff. Even after we checked out , they kept our bags for the day , let us use the lounge area , organised our airport transfer and the receptionist Miho insisted on helping carry the luggage to the cab even when we tried to stop her .
we forgot some laundry in the room after checking out and it was handed back to us looking as if it had been ironed ! Can't say enough about the staff.
Like anywhere else in japan it can be hard to find when you first get there , when you get off the train at Nanba look for Takashimya the big department store , go to the cosmetics level, go out the exit near the Shisheido cosmetics and there should be a big Fraser sign and an exit out the the street . Cross the street head for the McDonald's and it's opposite maccas . Hopefully it will save the hour it took us to make the 5 minute trip.

The hotel has an excellent location in namba area. The staff is very very helpful. The rooms are very large, with separate areas bedroom and living room with kitchenette. You have almost all the appliances you usually need at home like microwave, stove, washing machine, 2 TVs, radio, blow drier ....
In order for the room to be perfect the only improvements needed are:
- some parts of the room had problems with wifi connection
- the room had sometimes a strange humidity smell but perfectly bearable
- the breakfast is included provided by 2 restaurants nearby but a bit poor

We stayed at the Fraser Residence for a few nights on a side trip to Osaka.
It's a great location with many things to see, eat and do in the area. Our family (that includes 5 years old and 1.5 year old) walked to and from Shimbashi Shopping Arcade & Dotonburi a couple of times during our side trip. The subway was very easy to use as well. we did Osaka aquarium, Universal studio, osaka castle all by subway. yes it's busy so you'll need to be strategic on when to use the subway if you have kids.

The room was very clean and the washer/dryer was very convenient for us with kids. our room faced the highway and it was very quiet. The only noise we did hear were emergency vehicle sirens in the morning but otherwise it was very quiet. We had a very comfortable night.

The free breakfast that was included is a typical Japanese breakfast. We went to the restaurant @ Namba parks (which is very easy to find if you just follow the instructions provided) every morning. This is not the same as a Hampton Inn where you get a free continental breakfast buffet. it was good enough for us to start the day and then pick up anything delicious along the way exploring the area.

we had a very nice stay here and everyone was very friendly and helpful to us.
I'm sure that anyone staying here will certainly enjoy it as much as we have.

This was our 2nd time and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. Again we stayed for about 2 weeks (april 9th till april 24th)

We stayed in a 1-bedroom deluxe suite, room 801 (last year 701) which was perfect. Nice and quiet in the corner. Again, all the facilities were present: washer/dryer, kitchen supplies, air purifier (we loved that thing!).
Twice a week our room was cleaned (we booked it like that), but they still came to empty our trashbin and bring new towels every day.

Breakfast: I know many people still don't like it much (cause it's not an included full buffet breakfast probably), but we loved it. They did make some improvement. They added a japanese style breakfast and also added some soup with the bread and egg breakfast. Perfect to fill up on energy for the day to come. The "big eating" we did in Osaka anyway.

I'm not going to say too much about the location and the shops around, I did that last year. Location is just excellent.
The ramen shop across the street, Hakata Ippudo is still great. Denden town is closeby, Sennichimae Doguya suji also. Fun street, it's like shinsaibashi but they sell more house stuff (plates, supplies, kitchen stuff etc)

Price went up since last year, but still not too crazy. High demand, high prices I suppose...

Staff was again excellent. Very kind, polite, friendly... both in Japanese and english.

Only 1 thing I can think of that would make it even better: the 1-bedroom suites have 2 tv's, 1 in the living room, 1 in the bedroom. Also DVD and "Hikari satellite tv" (some free, some pay-tv). Unfortunately, the DVD player and Hikari system are only linked to the tv in the living room.
It would be nice if they can be linked to both tv's. Sometimes after a long day, it's just nice to watch some tv in bed, instead of in the couch.
But that's a detail.
WiFi was great.

Thank you again for a wonderful stay. And next time I'm in Osaka, I'll stay at Fraser Residences again!

Room Tip: Airco tip in 1-bedroom deluxe: The airconditioning system works great, but just make sure the settin...
