“Another food & shopping street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

This area is small compared to Dotonbori. It has many food stall and restaurant around and also souvenir shop. Tsutenkaku Tower is at the center and you can go up to the tower. This are is famous of the deep fried food. You can find most of the restaurant selling the same, with different package and pricing. Other osaka famous food also available here. Beware, some shop around here is 18SX. Enjoy...

“Pretty Interesting Collection of Billikens”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We decided to have a cruise around here on our first day in Osaka. Some web sites and travel guides had warned that it is the closest thing to a dangerous neighbourhood you can get in Japan. We went there at about 11 am and it was fine. There are way dodgier streets in Kabukicho. It was pretty interesting, with some cool little shops and houses.

We managed to spot a rolls royce phantom parked in some random driveway, then a rough looking man yelled at us, so we fled.

Good times.

“Normal street, good eats”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

Shinsekai is a fascinating street to visit, definitely great for those who like a lively location. Most of the shops are restaurants or food shops with roughly the same fare so it's definitely fine to hop into any of them. There are those with really long queues which I'd only recommend it for those who have the time to queue. Nevertheless, the place is definitely charming with its colourful storefronts and a good stop overall.

Seeing different part of Osaka & feeling different culture... most of people may skip this place but believe me, it is worth to spend some times... feel the culture... engage the people here... you feel part of it...

“Interesting street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

A very interesting street that combines both post-WWII era and modern architecture together. Lots of food being sold in the streets and it's a quiet street as well.

Be sure to visit the Tsutenaku Tower, which has some old school stuffs located in it. You got to pay a entrance fee for it though, which costs 600 yen to go up. I went to the tower in the afternoon and it's a great day with clear blue skies and thus took many beautiful pictures here. The tower is a mini-museum as well, many old school stuffs and exclusive Osaka Pocky are being sold here too.

Spent around 2 hours here, and went to the nearby Onsen called "Spa World" and it's a great experience there. Really recommended.
