“Great place for quiet reflection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Osaka is full of hustle and bustle, so a trip to the castle and the surrounding park is a great way to relax and soak in a quieter side of Japan. I especially love the plum garden. It's easy to access and is great in any season.

“This "castle" sits in an enormous park that should be beautiful in spring”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

However, in the wintertime it is mostly brown and not very interesting. Add that while the outside of this building looks amazing and the inside looks like a regular, county museum in LA, back in the 60's and I almost wish we would have spent our time doing something else. However, there are some interesting artifacts in this museum and the story is intriguing. I recommend March for the best visiting time:)

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We visited the castle after the aquarium conveniently they are on the same train line. Being winter the gardens weren't at their best but it was still a pleasant walk and the moat and turrets were worth looking at. The castle itself was an impressive sight and great to photograph.
