“Value for money, tasty and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Recommended by our hostel, this is a good sized sushi train located in the Kyoto Station 'Atsy Road' complex. All dishes are 137yen (which is about AU$1.50), way cheaper then anything you'd get back home.
They serve a great variety of sushi nigiri and rolls as well as the most delicious clam miso soup. Plates come either with or without wasabi, and plates can also be made to order. Pints of beer are 500yen and a great side to all the dishes.
It's a traditional Japanese sushi train, so you won't find the usual western sushi train dishes such as goyaza, karage or edamame, but you won't need them.
The fish is super tasty, rice super fresh and the sushi chefs enjoy interacting with the customers.
In peak periods there might be a short wait for a seat but its well worth it :-)

“Exceeded expectations! Thrilled!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013 via mobile

Bumped into the restaurant by a coincidence, but remembered having read about it at Tripadvisor.

After waiting 10 minutes - we were all set by the carousel. Yum!

Great taste, authentic presentation and wide variety. Quite noisy, but complimentary to the atmosphere.

Seduced by the food and atmosphere, the two of us ended up with 23 plates and a big stomach. 4000 yen!!! Amazing!

Great expectations and even greater delivery by the chefs!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Musashi Sushi is absolutely fantastic. Don't let the rotary sushi set-up scare you away! True, you miss out on presentation experience of a more expensive sushi restaurant, but the quality at Musashi cannot be beat. We had a lot of trouble finding the this restaurant in Kyoto Station but just follow the signs (and smells) to McDonalds - Musashi is directly across the hall. The plates were 137 yen ($1.50) which is INCREDIBLE! My husband and I are huge sushi fans and live in Guam where we're lucky enough to have fresh and relatively inexpensive sushi. The prices at Musashi were half of what we pay at our favorite rotary place in Guam. We ate at Musashi three times during our five days in Kyoto and will recommend it to anyone we know who is traveling to Kyoto.

“Great sushi with good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Every sushi's taste in this restaurant are good, n so many variants here, all of them are fresh. The staffs are very kind and helpful. They understand english, n they have english menu too. The price are reasonable (137 yen) for all of the sushi menu. I like this restaurant, because it feels so japanese, cozy, and homie. If i come back to Koyoto again, surely I'll back to this restaurant too.

“any fresher and it would still be swimming...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Another Tripadviser TOP TIP. We were in Kyoto for 2 days and we liked this place so much we ate there twice. It was a little hard to find first time but there are only so many places you can hide a restaurant in Kyoto Station. We nearly bailed when we first arrived as there was a fairly significant queue (lunch) which started outside and progressed inside down one wall... one of our party refused to leave after having a quick look at all the goodies circulating on the train.Thank god we persevered... this place is a gem!!! The queue moved along with standard Japanese efficiency and we were seated in no time flat (even with a party of 6). Then the fun begins. The queue time gives novice westerners a chance to work out how the operation works..., the free green tea, the piles of plates growing around the diners as they accumulate evidence of their meal. There is an endless parade of freshly prepared sushi moving past, you have to keep reminding yourself there is no rush and if something you see disappears it will be replaced and back circulating in a couple of minutes. Yes, menus can be provided with english descriptions of the culinary delights passing before you but half the fun is taking a punt. The bottom line is its all fantastic. The chefs are preparing it in front of your face so you cant deny its fresh. Service is great, prices are unbelieveable, Y6000 to feed 6 people (inc beer) and no one left feeling hungry. Try the duck...
