“Lovely small town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Arashiyama is a traditional little town without extra nightlife. With new developed onsen, we enjoyed a traditional Japanese style night there at Arashiyama.

“Beautiful bamboo! Horrible taxi.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

If you want to be alone, go early. We went on the afternoon and there was a lot of Japanese tourist. Something very unpleasant was all the taxi that came to drop lazy tourist on the promenade. They break the zen ambiance. The bamboo are really beautiful :)

“Boat Ride a Must-Do”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

This is a great tourist attraction in Kyoto, there are tons of restaurants and cafes, as well as a scenic train ride and a traditional Japanese boat tour down the Hozu River. There are also a few temples and gardens in the area that are worth seeing.

“Tenryuji and the bamboo forest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Tenryuji and its gardens are beautiful and so varied for such a small area, but the bamboo forest with the path through those huge bamboo plants is really unique.

“Splendid & Powerful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Enveloped by bamboo shoots with the sound muffled out from around you. Unlike any experience I've ever had. Recommend getting there early as later in the afternoon - when I was there - It was a challenge to get a look at the bamboo grove with no people walking through.
