“Great for exploring Kyoto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We stayed here for three nights and have no complaints. The hotel's location is great for those travelling and wanting to explore Kyoto. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was clean and a decent size. We'd happily stay here again or recommend the hotel to friends and family.

By Japanese Standards, our double bedroom was large. The staff was consistently helpful, polite, well informed and willing to obtain tourist information for us. In every respect, the hotel met all our needs. The only thing lacking was a coin laundry. It was conveniently located in mid-town, close the the Sanjo Railway Station and the Sanjo Keihan Metro Station.

I would gladly stay there again.

Basic hotel, but very comfortable and with everything you need - free WiFi and PCs in reception. Really helpful staff who have excellent English. Good location a short walk from the metro and bus, and close to the very quaint Gion area.

The Hana Hotel is newly renovated, having previously been a small apartment building. The rooms are all nicely furnished but most are typically small as is the case in this class of hotel everywhere in Japan. There are however a couple of larger rooms at the top which some may find more comfortable. I didn't do breakfast here, but our friends did on one morning and reported that you are better off eating out. Service is of the usual high standard even though it is relatively cheap.

The hotel is located conveniently near the Sanjo Keihan Kyoto Subway to allow for easy travel around Tokyo and in the entire Japan. And next to eat there is a convenience store and a park for relaxation. The staffs are very friendly and speak good English so don’t worry about the language barrier. The hotel is sparkling and looks brand new, although rate a three star I think this should be reviewed. The rooms are clean with swank bathrooms and offer lots of other comfort. If you love night life then you will be thrilled at staying at this hotel as it is surrounded by most of Tokyo’s premier nightlife hot spots. I recommend this hotel as it offers great service, is comfortable and charges a reasonable price.

The hotel offers clean rooms with no frills. Unfortunately our room's lock didn't work. So we had to go back to basics with the actual key.

Breakfast was simple, but adequate. There were 3 choices for the "bakery" section: sliced bread (with texture more like that of croissants), buns and some kind of pastry. There were hard-boiled eggs, bacon, salad and soup for those who enjoy a savoury breakfast.

The staff's English was rather limited, but they did try hard.

Though this hotel is not so budget-friendly, but it is located conveniently almost next to a subway exit (exit #1 Sanjo Keihan Kyoto Subway). And next door, you have a convenience store which will help you with your daily needs. A few steps further you will see the parks also.
Staffs are friendly though English is somehow limited. During check in, the reception desk was full, then a staff came towards us near the entrance, greeted us, and ready with my name and check in forms. Great.
Also, we got the chance to opt for the bath salts available.

Room was completely spacey, in comparison to the other hotels in Japan. And the pillows are totally comfortable.

Breakfast was offered during check in for another 500JPY per pax, but we did not opt for it.

The only thing was, since we were having an autumn trip, and the temperature outside fell to 7-8 Celcius degree at night, the heater was somehow a bit too warm for us. We spent almost an hour just to adjust the room temperature, because the remote control is only in Japanese.

Will definitely be back again here.
