“Little piece of Ireland in Japan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

This place was an unexpected find, but a welcome one. After wandering through some of the restaurants in Kyoto, I stopped here with friends for something to drink. I had hoped for a cider other than Strongbow, but it was welcome all the same. The decor was very well done, and the food we ordered was also delicious. After enjoying a pint here, I slept very well that night!

“Irish craic in Kyoto!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Everywhere we travel, there is always an Irish bar! Some good, some bad, some indifferent. This one has an interior imported wholesale from Ireland 13 years ago. We wandered in out of amusement & it was a bit like a bad joke - an English couple wander into an Irish Bar in Japan, to be served by an Italian...

We loved it! The staff are so friendly, and after a couple of Moscow Mules I dared try out my very basic Japanese language skills to exaggerated praise! The Guinness is pretty good. We snacked there a few times. The menu is oddly esoteric and the Japanese love sharing everything so there will be groups having course after course of things to try them.

They do a passable Shepherds Pie (though we think it was probably beef and ergo Cottage Pie!) and fish and chips are good. The prosciutto pizza is amazing (though not very irish) - a margarita pizza base, topped with salad and prosciutto. Add entertainment (if you are a slightly intoxicated Brit) by eating your food with chopsticks. If you can do it, you will again recieve unadulterated enthusiasm from the staff.

They have live music on Friday evenings and some Sundays. We hear a four piece group and the Japanese singer was having a good go at Irish shanties!

They have lots of whiskey. All the staff love Whiskey. So does my husband. Much whiskey was drunk - we discovered we like the Yamazaki 12 year old quite a bit. We spent a fortune here - liquor in bars isn't that cheap, and we were regulars for 5 days! When we go back to Kyoto (and we loved the city so much there has to be a when) we will definitely be back for more!

“Found it like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Delicious pint of Guinness going down my gullet now! Super music be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Wonderful little place. Chat with Tomofumi! The pint well poured. The ambiance (nil se sin focal as gaeilge) is realy nice. Come just for the music but he has plenty of good whiskies to choose from. I think the food is probably average but will give it a go anyway.
Dara.
