“Very good value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Short walk from the Kyoto JR station. Hotel was modern and clean. The room (twin room) was quite spacious (for japanese standard). The concierge service was also excellent and was very helpful in our restaurant reservations.

Almont is a very modern hotel about ten minutes from the modern Kyoto Japanese Rail station.
very good value- We -my wife and I ( Canadian ) were given a larger room without asking. The ofuro -separate for men and women are first class for washing and resting in the very warm pool -takes up to 20 men in mine. The downstairs lobby is excellent with nice spread out mod furniture and a great selection of reading material in a side -open library. in Sept $ 85.00 per night plus taxes for the two of us. Fine breakfast around 16.00 -17.00 $ ( U.S. equiv)
We ate in the RR station after a brief walk- lots of shopping nearby in mod Japanese style malls
friendly staff - half spoke moderately well in English. Recommend highly -stayed three nights.JP

Room Tip: take an upstairs level 4 to avoid some road noise ask if you will for a larger room (we didn'...

Based on what other reviewers had written, my husband and I stayed in this hotel for several nights while in Kyoto. And I have to say I am not in agreement with those who really liked this hotel. Yes, it is within a 10 minute walk of the station, and yes it is relatively new and modern but there's something about the layout of the extremely small (perhaps the budget rooms are extra tiny??) room we had that was so awkward as to be irritating. The bathroom was claustrophobic, the suitcases had to be put on the floor where we constantly tripped over them, the very small double bed had to be pushed up against one wall in order to walk up the other side of it - I just found myself to be continually frustrated by the lack of space. For the price, I expected a little better value.

I am a female visitor who stayed at this hotel for 4 nights a week ago. The hotel is new, very tidy and clean. The price for each night is very attractive. Overall speaking, the hospitality is petty good and helpful. I did not go to the public bath as I was not get used to it and considering the property safety as I was a single visitor (there was no safe in the room). I strongly recommend those who plan to visit Kyoto to stay near this station if u will also want to visit other places, e.g. Osaka, Uiji. It is very convenient to go around there. One main concern is that it loacates from the station for about 10-15mins walk ( not very good for those who plan to buy a lot of souvenirs : ) ) . As I came to Kyoto during the late January, the dark began to come at around 5pm. I always has to walk at the dark. Although the street light was enough, there was rare pedestrians on the street. Visitor must pay attention to it. (p .s.In order to access the hotel more easily, I have checked the street view by using Google map, it helped me to better prepare myself to search. One u got it, it is very easy to access. (The nearest exit in the Kyoto station names in "Hachijio dori street" 八条通, it is better to prepare the Japanese name and address of this hotel before ensuring the local.)

within 10 minutes walk from JR kyoto station as everyone says, really isn't a long walk at all. room is understandably quite small but which budget jap hotel isn't? bed is on the small side too. front desk girls and guys really do make an effort to go the extra mile though. Wholehearted recommended.

Well run hotel and the public bath downstairs is quite nice! Service was good. Amenities were ok. Even had robes to go to public bath with.

Super location near the Kyoto train station.

But the beds are quite small. We found the double to be rather squeezy for 2 adults.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2015

Stayed at Kyoto in late Dec 2014, I found this hotel to be great. The rooms were much larger than most hotels in Japan, clean and new. The beds were comfortable and there is a nice onsen. It is about 12 minutes walk from the Kyoto Station. Make sure you have your directions clear so you can get to it quickly. Breakfast was excellent with a wide buffet selection of both Japanese and Western breakfast items. Considering the price it was a great hotel and I will stay there again if I visit Kyoto again.

Room Tip: Let the reception know around what time you will be coming if you are traveling during peak periods...
