“Elegant and thoughtful design. A Modern & Cozy Stay in Kyoto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Stayed here early April last year, the peak of Sakura Season. The hotel is very new and modern, staff were all as helpful and nice as you imagine a Japanese hotel can be. Our room was rather narrow in design but have enough space for both of us plus our luggage. Everything is comfy and well design. Worth to mention the night stand have built-in chargers with several plugs that can fit any various gadgets to charge at the same time. What's better is the charger was not only practical but also thoughfully designed so you would not find it messy!! This small detail reminded me the virtue of good Japanese hosts :D

Only con for this hotel is rather far walk from any restaurants or landmarks. Although there's a convenient store just next to it.

We had a great time in the Almont hotel. It is a new hotel, located 5min walk from the train station. The hotel has an excellent service, with an outstanding healthy breakfirst, a very calm atmosphere and all very clean. Really enjoyed.

This was a great place to stay for exploring all of Kyoto and beyond. Ten minutes from the train station at most, and that place is a world itself, teeming with restaurants, and shops. The hotel is scrupulously clean, the staff extremely pleasant, if somewhat lacking in English, and the breakfast, at $16, must have over 50 different foods. Even good coffee. I had a single room, small, but everything i needed, including a fridge. There was a microwave in the room close to the elevator with the beverage machines, which have warm coffee and tea as well as cold beer. .

Room Tip: The fifth floor has the microwave and drink machines room. I had 514, all the way at the end of the...

The hotel itself is nice; very clean. The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately we booked the hotel very late and November is very popular season so we ended up in a small room - I mean very small, very...- but very clean and nice. Hotel has a very nice and modern public bath as well which comes handy after walking around the city all day, believe me you will need that soaking up in hot water moments:) The hotel is maybe 4-5 blocks to the train station. If you don't mind walking, using hotels just to sleep as long as they are clean which in these case it is- then this is a good option. You could literally stay in a hotel that on top of the train station but would you?.... anyways this hotel worked perfectly fine for our needs. we used Kyoto as a base and used trains a lot - day trips to Osaka and Nara - so it was good. If you like to be around more local setting and restaurants then I would suggest Gion region.

My son and I found this hotel easily. It's literally 5 mins walk from Kyoto station, leaving from the Hachijo East Exit (near the Shinkansen lines). I'd recommend you plan you route via Google maps and have a screenshot/print out beforehand. So location is great for the station, but if like us you want to go Geisha/Maiko spotting in Gion then expect an hour's walk, a train ride or an approx 1,200 yen taxi ride depending on the time of day.

We opted for a small double and be warned, it is VERY small. We only stayed for two nights - any longer and I would have had to pay for an upgrade. A small double is really a single room, and a small single at that. With luggage there is really no room to walk around the bed. I'm not into swinging cats, but if I was, I wouldn't have been able to do it in that room. That said, it was impeccably clean and wifi worked well.

We didn't eat at the hotel, as the already mentioned super-nearby Kyoto station has so much to offer in the way of food that we wandered there for breakfast and dinner. Didn't use the onsen but it look popular. Saw other westerners with tattoos using it, so the hotel seem pretty relaxed.

Room Tip: The small double should be renamed small single. If you're not on a budget, opt for a larger roo...

To me, it is a little difficult to locate the hotel at first (it is situated like in some residential area?)but once you find it, you'll find this hotel pretty convenient as it is situated within walking distance to the main Kyoto station.

Not the typical "ryokan" nor traditional inn kinda place as the hotel is pretty modern and clean, but good in plenty of other areas! The service staff were very courteous, friendly and hospitable. Wifi was lightning fast, and the onsen is a great place to soak and just end the day.

I would probably opt for a more traditional inn next time when i'm in kyoto but this place is a good choice should you prefer western style rooms with a public bath.

This hotel was very clean and the staff was very attentive. They greet you as you enter and exit the front doors. I really enjoyed the public bath. It was clean and had shampoo, conditioner, and soap provided. It's near the Kyoto Tower and train station area but not really in walking distance. We had a car. It cost 1,000 per day to park in the small lot near the hotel.
