“One of the Best in Kyoto !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

It was one of the best hotel experience I had during my travel in recent times. The hotel is very conveniently located about 10 minutes walk from the main Kyoto station and near all important amenities. The hotel looks to be brand new right from the lobby to the room.

Staff was exceptionally nice and with their limited knowledge of English they provided all the neccessary information. They upgraded us to a triple room for additional 1800 Yen as we had our 11 year old son travelling with us. The room was superbly laid out and had a fantastic bathroom. The room size was more like a suite and the linen was topgrade. The complimentary Japanese Yukatas were wonderful.

They even had an ionizer in the room. The only thing missing was normal tea bags so we bought those at a nearby convenience store (Most hotels in japan only supply green/ roasted brown tea so if you like the good old normal tea in the mornings, carry your own). The room also had a multi USB charger and Free WiFi...

Overall it was 'JUST PERFECT'.

This was an extremely clean hotel and very close to Kyoto main train station. You just need to come out of the exit by the shinkanzen and turn left, cross over the road at the traffic lights (keep heading left). There will be a car park on your right hand side and go past keihan hotel on your right. Take the 2nd road on your right after the traffic lights.
I stayed there for 3 nights and it was snowing lightly. The walk is literally only 5 minutes, and if you are worried about the walk because of large bags, it is a VERY short taxi ride to be dropped off there.
I stayed in a very small double room, which had a very comfortable bed, tv, air con, small fridge and a wardrobe. The room was en suite and both the bedroom and the bathroom were extremely clean and comfortable. It was a reasonable price (with no breakfast) with very attentive staff. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about was the lack of safe in the room, however, I felt that my things were very safe being left in the room anyway. The little origami cranes were a nice touch each evening too!
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want somewhere fairly decent to stay in Kyoto on a bit of a budget.

Room Tip: Some floors are smoking floors and some are non, so be sure to specify when you book.

Hotel is nice and new, good rooms good service and a tasty breakfast. It's located very close to the station but on the south side (the city centre is on the north), but it's close enough not to matter

This hotel was comfortable and clean.
Room condition was best especially public bath was very clean and funny experience to me. All staffs are very kind their English skills are good.
Uncomfortable things is long distance from Kyoto station. The hotel said to me about 10 minutes far from kyoto station but it takes almost 20minutes stranger like me. But if you stay here 1night more, i recommand this hotel any other good reasons(clean, comfortable room, clean and silent outside, kind staffs etc..)

Booked this through expedia prior to it opening. Had a nervous wait, but needn't have worried. It was great. A brand new hotel with very polite and attentive staff. Rooms large with good sized beds and all new amenities. It is a little walk from Kyoto station (5-8mins), but we knew this when we booked. We booked an early-bird opening special which had 60% off the room rate which made it exceptional value for money. At full price there may be others of a similar standard perhaps closer to the station (our preferred base) but we were happy.
Really enjoyed our stay.

We booked this hotel prior to its opening which gave us a great discount. It was a bit of risk to book a hotel in Kyoto that hasn't been open yet + no reviews available, but it paid off quite well!
Almont surprised us with great, spacious rooms offering nice views. It is situated in a quiet area of Kyoto, yet its close to all major sites and relevant locations.
Staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming.
We would definitely recommend this place!

The Almont is new. This obviously has a good impact in regards to cleanliness and the look of the place. But the reason why the Almont was the best place I stayed in whilst in Japan, was because of the staff.

The staff were courteous to a tee. The English was great. There is a genuiness about the staff as well. Very often in Japan I felt that the service was routine and an over the top display, that in many ways made me feel uncomfortable. At the Almont it is done with a genuineness that makes it appropriate.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. Everything was arranged perfectly to make the small room seem bigger.

It was a nice touch having an onsen, though the steam was inconsistent, present some days and not others.

The lobby was comfortable and the internet in the hotel was good.

The location is great, between Kyoto Station and Tofukuji allowing great access to Kyoto as well as surrounding areas if using Kyoto as a base.

When I go back to Kyoto, I will happily stay at the Almont again.
