Stayed here for 3 nights and arrived from Kyoto station with the Shinkansen. Kyoto only has 2 subway lines, but this hotel is on one of them which was only 3 stops away from the central station. So that was great when you travel with your bags or suitcases. When you arrive at Kyoto station, take the blue/green line to Karasuma Oike, take exit 3-1 and walk straight on for about 4 blocks. You'll find the hotel on your right hand sight. On the opposite of the large street, there's a 7/11.
The room was a bit dated (and so was the rest of the hotel) and not the best place we stayed in during our visit to Japan, but the staff was friendly and you can also buy a 2-day public transport pass at the reception. The hotel was also clean and the wifi was good.
Regarding breakfast: There's a great bakery (called Secret Bakery) just 2 blocks from the hotel. Just walk towards the entrance of the subway station and you'll find some flags and signs of the Bakery which is on the lower floor. Everything just costs 100 yen (including coffee and a variety of soda's) and it opens at 7am in the morning, so it's a great stop to have breakfast before you start your day.
You can also use your Tokyo Pasmo card here for the subway. So you don't have to bother about buying tickets for the subway. More information about the Pasmo card can be found in my Osaka review.
Would stay here again when visiting Kyoto.
