Stayed here for two nights at the end of October as part of a three month trip around the world. The hotel is conveniently located beside a subway station for ease of access and is near a main shopping street and also within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants (not immediately obvious but they are there!!).
The service was good, only complaint was that the queue for the concierge was always very long. The room is bigger than other Japanese hotels we stayed in, although small by American and European standards. We did however share our room with some sort of invisible bugs and we were both eaten alive while we there so insect spray might be a good investment.
The best thing about this hotel is the spa. It is a Clarins spa and is wonderful. My husband and I both had an exfoliation treatment which was great howver, the huge plus is in the changing rooms where there are Clarins products for use. Every single product both male and female is available and I spent over an hour preening myself and applying full make up after my treatment. Great preparation for a night out and all included in the cost of your treatment!
The hotel is very close to Gion and the temples and I would have no problem recommending it.
