Okay, first the good points... thats easy its the staff, very well trained, polite and attentive. The location is okay, Kyoto attractions are all over the place, so wherever you are is going to mean a bit of travel some of the time. The City has excellent bus links, and for 500Yen from the front desk you can get a days pass and an easy to follow Map in English if need be. We walked from the station to the hotel, it took about 10-15 minutes but its easy by Bus.
So what didn't I like? ... the rooms, very very small, the bathroom was tiny, thats okay I dont expect big whilst in Japan, but it felt as if it belonged in a caravan, and not an expensive hotel, and yes I do consider this expensive for what you get. Just because the staff are well trained does not in my opinion justify its price. I also really disliked the low lighting in all of the corridors and rooms, you really should have been given a miners helmut to wear, it was ridiculously dim. We had breakfast one morning at 2250yen per head, its okay, but not worth the money, three of us ate for less in the Royal Host, which is opposite the hotel,, the bill for all of us was about 2000yen.
To summarise, I just dont see this hotel being worth the money they charge. I would not stay again, if visiting Kyoto.

Stayed 4 nights at Tokyu Hotel in Kyoto. The hotel is okay. Rooms are not as nice as lobby area. The room we stayed in was in need of renovation (dark, worn and brown-colored), but was okay and clean. You have internet connection in your room, but it costs about 8 euros per 24 hours.

Service everywhere in this hotel is very good.

Location of this hotel is not the best, but also not the worst. It's within a walking distance from main shopping area and Kyoto Station area, but it's a bit of a walk. Also the nearest metro station is 500 m away. But it's also located so that you can reach station or Gion area for about 4-5 euros by taxi.

Breakfast wasn't included, but you can get a western style breakfast for about 7 euros accross the street at Royal Host. Breakfast at hotel costs about 14 euros.

I'm a bit disappointed to see the number of people upset with the location of this hotel.

A short bus ride or 5 minute, $6 taxi ride will get you to Kyoto station, Ponto-cho and to many other attractions in town. People forget that Kyoto is full of attractions and many of them won't be on brochures or in guides. So, put your guide down and do a bit of walking - get yourself a real japanese grassroots experience. A short walk from the hotel there's many small sushi restaurants, temples and attractions including a fabulous little garden next door to the Lawson Convenience store.

The Tokyu is superbly furnished with an abundance of staff ready to assist you at any time. It also had one of the best water feature/garden that I had seen at any hotel during my two week stay in Japan and has restaurants on site.

This hotel is good value for money.

Very clean and modern hotel. Very central location if you want access to the train station as well as other parts of the city. However, the hotel is not immediately close to many of the tourist sites. We traveled outside of Kyoto several days during our stay here, so it was nice to be close to the train station. Buses and taxis were required to see the rest of Kyoto, unless you were prepared to walk some distance.
