I chose Kinsuitei because it was reasonable compared to other Japanese style Inn nearby.
However, I realized that Kinsuitei was more a Japanese‐style restaurant, rather than a hot spring inn.
Of course, there 4 or 5 rooms for guests to stayover as well as TV room, public toilet and a bath etc.
Room is quite standard with Tatami and Futon. Each room has simple bath/toilet. There is only one public bath for all guests. If there are more than 2 groups staying there, the public bath will be used hourly by each group in turn. Fortunately there was no one else when we were there. The public bath is ok, not amazing, no great view. There are not many kinds of bathtubs, just one. To our disappointing, no one can use the public bath in the morning. So we had to take a shower in our room ( which is unit bath !)
So,,, I recommend you to come here for gorgeous and beautiful Kaiseki-Ryori !
The hostess there explained that they had a shuttle bus service to collect all tourists/business travelers from Kyoto Station/hotels near Kyoto Station so that everyone of them can come to Kinsuitei for Kaiseki Ryori ( lunch/dinner)
I totally understand, Kinsuitei is worth a visit for Kaiseki Ryori. Having said that, if you are kind of lazy bones, you may as well stay overnight here.. The room is decent. I guarantee that you can experience Japanese Style inn.
There is no station nearby, I am afraid that you have to take a taxi or talk to Kinsuitei for pick-up. It is located in Takao area.
Kaiseki ryori (7 courses for dinner) was pretty good, no meat, only seafood !
