“Great design studio close to livy Kyoto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Excellent value for money (100 euros per night for our family of 2 adults & 2 children of 9 & 11)
Athough I booked it as such for 2 ad & 2kids, Studio twin is not meant for a family, but hotel accepted us to stay in the twin studio, instead of paying a second room (out of our budget !) the twin studio does NOT have the sofabed as sown on most web pictures !! Additional Sofabed available only in Premier studios.
Great location, we stayed 5 nights in July at the time of the Gion Matsuri festival (15-17 july) all events, cars free streets food stalls... right next door,...we did most of our walks on footh but metro station just in front of the aparthotel, and one stop away from main kyoto train station.
Coin laundry in the basement of hotel : very convenient when travelling many weeks with children. As we had the kitchenette, we preferd to enjoy breakfast in the studio, hence did not tested the breakfast proposed by hotel. Maybe the only little point for improvement could be the Entrance hall, which is indeed design and "zen" but actually very dark....

Room Tip: Twin studios do not have the sofabed shown on pictures of booking sites, you need the select the pre...

Stayed in this apartment-style hotel in Kyoto for 3 nights with my wife, two teenage children, and my parents. We thought it was an outstanding value. Including the service fee, charge for a 2nd person, and tax, we paid $144 per night per room. The rooms have either two twin beds (which our 14 and 16 year old boys said were large enough and comfortable) or a real king size bed, a refrigerator, microwave, single burner range, kitchen sink, cutlery, cooking utensils, electric teapot, a desk, three chairs, coffee table etc.. Free wired and wireless internet. Daily housekeeping is included. For Japan and the price, the rooms were a good size. They were quiet, extremely clean (like everything in Japan), and had amazing AC. Our room had a window to a small concrete atrium or alley, but my parents and kids’ rooms looked out to the street. The staff spoke English pretty well and were very helpful. The hotel is less than a block from the #1 exit of the Gojo subway station, which is one stop north of Kyoto Station. Very convenient when taking the Shinkansen, although there were areas in the Gojo station where we had to carry our luggage up and down stairs with no apparent escalator or elevator. There are a 7-11, a couple of restaurants, a small grocery store, and a 100 Yen store right near the hotel. I believe there is a coin operated laundry somewhere in the hotel, but we did not use it. There are not really any tourist attractions near the hotel, but its proximity to the subway makes sightseeing very easy. Given the price and the functionality of the rooms, we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Only some of the rooms have a view of the street. We found it useful for determining whether it was...

Citadines.
The location is great, good hygiene standard. it's not a hotel which means that they don't offer some services (like room service, minibar, etc) but as apartments it's perfect with a small kitchen, and laundry in the basement. Efficient staff, and don t forget to ask about the rental bicycle spot. A bike during your stay will change the perspective of kyoto!!

The Citadines Kyoto is hands down one of the best options around for Kyoto. Combining a great location, fantastic service, huge room with great amenities and a competitive price - it's a winning combination.

The hotel has taken itself very seriously and combines the traditional Japanese spirit to the Citadines practicality, starting already from the entrance with its Japanese style architecture and decoration, this place sets you up for a perfect mood in Kyoto.

We've visited several citadines in several countries and this was definitely one of the nicest. The room was spacious and had a very relaxing ambience, great amenities and it was also very soundproof (which is not always the case in Citadines).

If it had a swimming pool+gym combo like in south east asian locations, this would be the perfect hotel/apart to stay in. But even as it is, it is a definitive winner for Kyoto, and we will return next time for sure.

Best hotel we stayed at in our 16 days in Japan. Clean, comfortable beds, big room, good location. Had a great stay here! Only thing missing would be a par of slippers and a robe, but that's just being picky.

We enjoyed our two nights here at the Citidines in Kyoto, though it was too short! The room was a pleasant change to the cramped quarters we had come from in Tokyo. It was large, had a kitchenette (though we didn't make use of it), and tidy. The hotel felt very quiet (maybe due to off season) and was well located near to the subway and walking distance to Kyoto station. It was also a pleasant walk to Gojo. The staff were friendly and helpful (helped book a reservation at a popular restaurant) and checking in-out was easy. Would definitely stay here again!

I had higher expectations as it's very well rated on TA, but overall it's a nice hotel - beautiful lobby, corteous staff and very well located near Kyoto's shopping street and a subway station.
Rooms are small, low floor to ceiling and tiny, tiny bathroom, although modern and somewhat comfortable.
You can usually get a good rate online, so it's worth it.
