We dined at Issian Pontocho last week.
As reflected by other reviews, finding this restaurant was a bit tricky. The cab driver dropped us at the nearest corner but initially we were unable to find the restaurant. Asking for directions from some hawkers at a local bar sent us in the wrong direction to the other side of the canal on a wild goose chase.
However, with further help we eventually managed to find our way back to where we had started after a long loop and 30 minutes walking.
Arriving back where we had started, we realised that we had walked straight past Issian without seeing its sign.
All that was soon forgotten when we went in. Most of the staff had excellent English and interacted well with the diners. The teppanyaki style food cooked at your table was superb.
We really had a very enjoyable experience at this restaurant despite our shakey start.
When paying the bill, we left a reasonable tip behind in gratitude.
The staff came after us and returned the money, saying that it was not necessary.
