This restaurant drives the overengineering that Japan is famous for to the maximum. Every dish, decoration and plate decor, in every smallest detail is arranged and matched to the current seasonally available food and presented it in one of the most impressive environments and by one of the best service available in all of Japan. If one wants to spend 36k-100k Yen (depending on the choice of menu) for that is a matter of personal preference.
The one downer that you will experience is unfortunately an infamous feature of many famous family operated businesses such as Ryokans and restaurants in Kyoto: A terribly unpleasant appearance of one of the ladies managing the business. They sit next to you and make it clear that they hate what they are doing and that they do not think that you can appreciate the splendor of what you are being served. You feel the need to prove yourself to her and that you know what you are eating and can appreciate it. If you are ready to ignore that matter, you might be in for a treat. But to be able to taste the subtleties between the flavors of the highest classes of Japanese food surely requires you to have spent your time in restaurants below this class for years.
