Stayed here when I couldn't book the recommended mid range hotels by the famous planet travel guide book. I had stayed at Hotel Unizo Kyoto and asked the reception there to book the Hotel Unizo Hiroshima. It turned out great. I didn't do my usual 'find the bus to the hotel' because it is so close to the train station it is only about a ten dollar AUD fare to the door.

You can visit the nearby castle to see a great collection of samurai swords and walk just up the street to the tram stop to get the tram to the department stores and the Peace Park, Museum, A Bomb Dome etc. (just ask for a transfer ticket on the tram as you need to take two trams to get to the Peace Park, no problem.) The transfer ticket is called a norikae-kippu. The tram drivers are very helpful. You just need 100 or 150 yen in coins. I ate breakfast one morning at the Restaurant connected to the hotel. Full on Japanese style for 1000 yen. I was the only Westerner but it was ok. I had a great feed. A clean comfortable well located place to sleep. The staff were very polite and helpful. By using this chain you can get them to book ahead for you. I stayed in their Kyoto hotel, no problems. Great if you are on your own.
