Stay there for 2 Nights in early Dec, 2007;
Price per room per night was(yen) 12,600, including tax and servicecharge
for a room with 2 double beds and 1 sofa bed. It's a bit too close
for comfort when the sofa bed was unfolded, leaving little room for luggages;
on the other hand, our room situated on the 9th floor facing the river rewarded us with a pleasant view of the Kyobashi-gawa and Enko-gawa Rivers, especially
at late evening.

Pluses:
A clean and tidy budget hotel; non-smoking room was requested at reservation and is available at check-in.

The usual in-room amenities included: temperature control, shower, washlets, TV,
free wi-fi access (see cons below), towels, tooth brushes, tooth paste, fridge,
kettle, tea bags, and radio clock.

Help-yourself amentities in lobby area included: razor, cotton ball, two PCs for
wired internet access and vending machines.

Hotel Flex is located about 500M SW of JR Hiroshima Station, a good
under-10 minutes stroll. By taxi, we paid about 500 yen.
It is convenient provided one doesn't mind some walking.
The nearest tram station is the Kanayana-Cho station on Aioi-Dori Ave,
which is a good 10 minutes walk through 5 short blocks with narrow to
no side walk.

A Seven-Eleven-like convenient store is right around the corner.

Minuses:
The room can be a bit too small for party over three people of average size.

I was not able to connect to their free wifi (from the
SID one can deduce the access point is on the 8th floor below) .

This is a nice, clean hotel. I thought it was easy to find. The hotel
is clearly marked on the free tourist map you pick up in the tourist information booth at the train station. Hotel is in walking distance to the train station - so it is easy to arrive, drop your stuff off and go on to the peace park, castle, gardens, etc. It is a short walk
to the tram stop. You could also walk to the main sights as well all within a 1/2 hour. And, Hiroshima is a nice city in which to take a stroll.

Yes, the rooms are small -- but about the same size as other budget hotels in Japan. And, the price was great. They had free internet computers and front desk people spoke decent enough English. Hiroshima is a surprisingly pleasant city. Make sure you see more than the peace park -- and go to a Hiroshima Carps baseball game. The
hotel can tell you how to get tickets.

Stayed for 1 night in Hotel Flex. It was relatively easy to find as I had been to Hiroshima before and knew it was on the same side of the station as all the signs pointing to A-Dome. The room was very small... really no room to even flatten my suitcase. I had emphasised that I didn't want a smoking room on my request and luckily that was adhered too. Nice river view from my room. Having internet access in the foyer side room was a bonus, but it was quite hot where we had to sit as it was right in front of the vending machine. Had to walk a few blocks to access streetcar, but it wasn't too far. They kept our luggage on the day of our checkout in the side room where the vending machine was... i didn't think it was a very safe spot. Overall, a pretty good stay.

“Not bad”

Hotel Flex

Apr 19, 2007

I had read some terrible reviews about this property before I stayed there, so I was a bit nervous about it...but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived.

The hotel is quite close to the Hiroshima Train Station...only about a 5 minute walk on foot. The problem was, when we exited out of the train station, we didn't know which direction to go towards (even tho we had a map). We must have asked about 10 people where the bridge was (the bridge you have to cross to get to the hotel), and no one seemed sure which bridge we were referring to...even when we showed them the map they could'n't really help us.

We were asked to prepay for our 2 nights stay when we checked in.

When we got into our rooms, we found them to be larger than expected (based on some of the previous reviews I had read). Hoewver, once we put our suitcases down, we realized why people thought the rooms were so small.

The bathroom was also very tiny, with barely enough space to fit even one person in there.

We had a room with a great view of the little lake outside our hotel. The location wasn't bad...very close to subway & bus stations. 20 minute walk to Hondori St. 30 minute walk to Peace Museum and A-Bomb Dome. 10 min walk to the Shukkeien Garden.

I would stay there again.

The hotel is a short walk from the main rail station which is a bonus but the wall sign is so small that it was a nightmare trying to find it. You'd be ok at night though as the neon sign on the roof is plenty large enough.

The room has to be the smallest double I have ever encountered. The only place to sit down in the room (apart from a tiny cushion with legs, oh I mean chair) was on the side of the bed. As a result the mattress was wrecked and provided us with a nights sleep like something out of the princess and the pea fairy tale - except that instead of a pea it was several springs in your back.

The was no restuarant facilities on a grotty little caravan outside with a microwave.

There wasn't much in the way of 'free' goodies in the bathroom either.
