I won't go into what the last reviewer said about the background of the World Friendship Centre. I also stayed with Don & Pauline, whose 2 year stint as volunteer hosts will soon be up. They really made my visit memorable for me, as I'm sure all the hosts do for their guests.
This is a really comfortable special place. I'm not Christian by a long shot but loved their down to earth non-confrontational atmosphere. The library is great, with lots of books about Hiroshima and the A bomb or just books about anything.
I had my own private room with a clean shared bathroom. Best bit was having a place to "unload" after the very emotional time at the Peace Park & Museum. If your reason for going to Hiroshima is to understand more about WW2 or the nuclear bomb, then I can't imagine staying at an impersonal hotel over this house. Here I always had a friendly face and a person to chat to or ask questions about what happened to Hiroshima. Invaluable.
