I found the Friendship Center by chance on the internet and thought it would be nice to try somewhere different. The place is a non profit organisation (run by an American church who promote pacficism and the abolition of nuclear weapons) and I liked the fact that my money would be used for a worthy cause.
There's only room for 6 (1 room of 4 and a room for 2) so make sure you book well in advance. Rooms are simple tatami with futon but very clean & comfortable. It is also cheap with a great American breakfast included. There's shared shower & toilet facilities.
The place is currently run by Don & Pauline who went out of their way to be great hosts, give us good tips on the city and arrange a volunteer Peace Park Guide (which I thoroughly recommend).
The location is also good, 10 minute walk from the street car and 15 minute walk to the Peace Park and surrounding shops/restaurants.
