I stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Hiroshima for 6 nights on business and would stay there again. The hotel is very close to the Peace Park and the rooms, although not brand new or overly spacious, are very clean. There is free broadband Internet access in all rooms (bring you own laptop), modern flat screen TVs (although English channel options are very limited) and most rooms have a pleasant outlook over the river and Peace Park. I stayed in a single room for about 6,000 yen a night which was of an adequate size with enough room for a suitcase and a small closet for hanging up a few days' worth of clothes. The bed and pillows were very clean and comfortable and the bathroom while not huge was big enough and kept spotlessly clean
The staff were always courteous and helpful in my limited dealings with them and my room was kept clean and tidy throughout my stay. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurants, (there is a Japanese and an Italian restaurant on the top floor) as I was often out and about and there are many other cheaper options nearby. A buffet breakfast is available for about 1,365 yen, but there are coffee shops and convenience stores not too far from the hotel which offer much cheaper alternatives. Also, I would have to add that the lobby bar didn't really have the atmosphere to match its prices (around 700-900 yen for standard beers and mixed drinks).
Overall, I would recommend the Sunroute for a short stay on business or for sightseeing where you would be spending most of your time out of the hotel. It doesn't have swimming pools, spas or over-the-top service, but you can't expect 5 star facilities when you're only paying a 2-3 star price!
