Owner description: This skeleton of a building is all that remains in the area where the first atomic bomb exploded on August 6, 1945, and serves as a symbol of both the horrors of atomic war and the hope for world peace.

“Needs to be seen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

It is a powerful image when you walk through the park and see this building that you have seen in the media many times. And to think - when the bomb exploded above Hiroshima, it did so above the Genbaku dome - which, despite the catastrophic devastation across Hiroshima - was able to retain its shape.

It is a beautiful and meaningful experience, to simply walk around the Dome. Most people are silent as they take in the significance of such a site. It is a reminder of the tragedy of war, but also a very powerful symbol of peace and restoration.

“A Must-See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

The A Dome, preserved for visitors, is a vivid reminder of the devastation caused by the bomb. Standing in the beautiful Peace Park next to the river, it's a stark reminder of the horrors of war.

“How is this still standing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

It's amazing to see the only remaining structure after the atomic bomb. How this survived the blast (partly) is beyond me.

“A piece of history not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

There is so much significance behind the Atomic Bomb Dome; the only structure to have (partially) withstood the devastating atomic bomb that fell on Hiroshima on the 6th of August 1945. This is a symbolic reminder of the irrelevance of nuclear warfare in this day and age.

“A must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

It's a must see but it's depressing. We saw it after 6 pm, at sunset, and the dim light added to the dramatic effect of the site. You can take a 20-minute stroll from the train station.
