Ikawa Ryokan is budget accommodation and a family-run business. We stayed there for a couple of nights and were pleased with the quality of the inn, its cleanliness and facilities in the rooms, considering the very reasonable price. The Inn features an accommodation annex not apparent in the photos, but linked to the main building. It serviced both western and Japanese guests from what we saw of the clientele. The inn offers Western and Japanese style rooms. We had a Japanese style room, with its own bathroom. So we slept on futons on tatami mats, but had our own facilities. Staff/family members were very friendly and helpful, including with directions and tourist information. The inn is a block or so back from a main road which also carries a few tram routes, so it very convenient to public transport (which we found easy to use for getting around). It is also a short walk to the Hiroshima peace park and A-Bomb Dome. There are little local restaurants, and a convenience store, nearby or trams can take you to the city centre in 10-15 mins for a very diverse range of restaurants, etc. They offer a Japanese or Western breakfast for a small extra charge. (Its average, but convenient.) On the ground floor they have a common lounge area and an internet terminal which guests could use free of charge. All up a good little find and we would stay there again.
