Stayed for business for two nights before moving to a different hotel as the Hotel was booked out over the weekend when I was going to go sightseeing. First was put in a very small room with no view apart from another building. Asked reception for another one and they were very obliging. The new room was much bigger and had a very small view of the river. Note that the siting of the hotel means most rooms will face buildings as the from facing the river is the small side of the building. Note that the single rooms differ in size (and maybe price I guess). Breakfast was very good with a wide range of food to eat on Level Two. If you paid for it it would cost about 1100yen from memory. Its very close to Hiroshima Station. If you want to enjoy the city centre a hotel closer to the action would be better.

The hotel is a 3 min walk from the train station so you don't need to get a taxi, even with luggage. Just turn right out of the station and you will hit it. The convenient location would be the main selling point and the hotel itself is clean and comfortable enough for a night. It's not a far walk into town (15 mins) or you can get the street car which runs along the main road from the station (nr the hotel) all the way to the main sights (peace park etc). You pay for your streetcar ticket when you get off.
Our room was tiny, barely bigger than the bed and you could hear the trains go past (not too loud but noticeable). The bed wasn't the comfiest but again, ok for a night.

The location is great, about 5 mins walk from JR station, bus and tram. Easy to go around. The staffs are quite friendly. The room is very clean and large (especially compared with Japanese standard). Didn't try the meals there. One tip.. If you don't smoke.. Really try to get a non-smoking room. I've stayed in a smoking room there (the non-smoking ones are all fully booked) and can't really get the smells out.

Hotel New Hiroden is well located, just 5 minutes walk from Hiroshima station. There are a number of good cafes and a great bakery near the station, as well as lots of places for cheap and delicious dinners (okonomiyake!).

The room was large by Japanese standards, though the decor was a little tired. There is free wifi in the lobby, which few Japanese hotels seem to have. Wired Internet is free in the rooms. The hotel bar also has a daily happy hour, which pleased our fellow group travellers.

The only real problem was that we couldn't work out how to make the aircon work, and so the room was quite hot, and after showering, really humid as well! I suspect that the aircon has been limited by thermostat or something similar to prevent people setting it very low. It would have been fine if we could open the window, but they seem to be locked closed.

All in all, New Hiroden is fine. It's cheap and well located and the staff on the front desk are friendly. It seems like standard Japanese business hotel fare.
