“Top hotel in Hiroshima for many reasons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Status: Starwood Platinum paying best rate + suite night award
Accommodations: Uber clean, new, and fantastic views of southern Hiroshima.
Service: Stand out Executive Lounge. Chiaki Nakanotono, supervisor, made our stay very pleasant and helped us with dining recommendations.
Overall: Must stay in Hiroshima. Well appointed category 5 hotel. Not your average American Sheraton. Modern luxury at an affordable cost. Centrally located adjacent to the JR Hiroshima train station. Professional staff and a well provisioned Executive Lounge - continental breakfast had great hot items such as eggs, meats, and fried potatoes.
Drawbacks: You have to take two elevators to get to your room based on the configuration.

Room Tip: Request south facing corner for best views.

Everything seemed as it should be - clean, comfortable, big rooms - but somehow the Sheraton lacks something. It's the little things like check-in being an unusually late 3pm, chardonnay or chardonnay blend being the only white wine in the club, little choice for bread in the club breakfast, that disappointed me and left a slightly negative aftertaste. I also definitely dislike the current fad of having no proper bathroom, just two separate cubicles for the shower and toilet, with the basin and mirror being open to the room. I may be odd but I do not want to watch my partner shaving and doing all the other things blokes do in front of a mirror - too gross. Yes it probably is the best hotel in Hiroshima but it isn't up to the standards of the bigger cities. To end on a positive note - I did like that they had English speaking staff and indeed at least one English person.

This hotel is spitting distance from Hiroshima Station and a short tram ride to the Peace Museum and Memorial.

The room was huge, even by American standards. We even got a King bed, which was our only throughout our trip to Japan. Large, lovely bathroom and modern design. Staff was extremely professional and they had many English speakers on staff. I have no complaints about the hotel besides their breakfast, which was a strange mish-mash of Japanese and "western" dishes (e.g., pasta with marinara sauce). Overall, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

The hotel is right next to Hiroshima Shinkansen station and also the base for local buses and trams, making it an ideal choice. Inside its fresh design gives it a calm appeal. Rooms are clean, spacious and bright. In hotel wifi is excellent. The Club lounge is well-provisioned. Above all, the staff are excellent, helpful, courteous and highly caring. This is one of the best hotels and probably the best Sheraton I have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Higher rooms, same side as club lounge, have a great view.

The hotel is located right next to the train station which is very convenient. The A-Bomb site is 20 minutes walk, this is also next to the museum.

The hotel cost us £85 a night. The staff were helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, however, wifi was an extra cost but free in the lobby area where they charge £9 for half a pint of beer and £14 for a glass of white wine. The swimming pool is also an extra fee. I'd rather pay £100 a night and have it all included.

We did spend a night on Myajima and the hotel staff were happy to look after our bags for one night, free of charge.

Had a three night stay here in November 2013 (room 1024). The hotel is literally next to the railway station so very conveniently placed for travel. The staff were extremely helpful with sorting out restaurant reservations in advance, and were most helpful during our stay. The room was spacious and clean, with excellent lighting and a good shower. I would definitely return.

My partner and I booked this hotel on the same day we needed to check in and decided to upgrade to a Club room as it came with free WiFi (amazing that hotels still have the guts to charge these days), access to the Club lounge which had free alcohol in the evenings and free breakfast in the mornings.

The room was very spacious and comfortable with great views over the city from the 21st floor.

The only reason I'm giving this hotel 3 stars is because of it's rather ridiculous policy of charging guests the equivalent of about £14 to use the pool and basic spa facilities. The reason I'm willing to pay good money to stay at a hotel like this is because of the facilities I'll get for my money, not the extra fees I need to pay to enjoy them. This business model reminds of me of Low Cost Airlines and is not something I expect to see when paying £190 a night for a hotel room.

Room Tip: It's worth paying the upgrade fee for a Club room if you're planning on using the internet a...
