Dining at Hassei was one of the best experiences of our time in Japan. The location is very close to the main street, however, as per the other reviewers we found the store frontage to be unassuming and innocuous. Once we were seated - we were treated to a culinary show. Whilst we didn't sit in front of the hot plate most seats are in close proximity so we did get to see first hand how the chefs create their okonomiyake masterpieces. Hiroshima style okonomiyaki is widely known as the tastiest and upon consumption we could see why. Succulent pork, crispy cabbage, freshly cracked egg, lightly toasted savoury pancake and glorious bbq sauce had our taste buds losing control. The service is efficient and welcoming and the value is exceptional. Two individual serves plus several glasses of sake with plumb soda at less than 3000Y - awesome. We topped off our experience by writing on the wall as many of our predecessors had done. All in all a fantastic experience.
