“Peaceful park”

Very calming and peaceful, lots of places to sit and relax and think, or just sit back and enjoy the calm

“Lovely, quiet spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

The gardens are lovely and quiet. A nice place to take a break after touring all day or bring a picnic.

“Worth a couple of days in this peaceful setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We didn't know what to expect as we had been told by Aussies working in Japan that the Japanese think its a bit strange that westeners want to visit Hiroshima. Some Japanese feel its to gloat over the 'victory'.
We were taken aback at the sight of the dome wreckage of the remaining building the A bomb had hit- very movingly sad. The park is lovely and peaceful - adorned with flowers, peace bells and areas to reflect the past.
The message is one of peace.
Worth a visit to pay respect to all who were lost at that dreadful time.

“it is kind of peaceful...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

If you've been to a lot of parks around the world, I guess it depends on one's taste or vision when it comes to describing a park. this one's a modern type, more cement than soil, few modern art statues, This park showcase 3 major aspects, 1st, is the A-bomb dome, which is the only remaining remnant of the aftermath of the Atomic blast. 2nd, is the modern art statue of the child who died of radiation poisoning, along with it an area of thousands of paper cranes origami arranges in different messages. then the 3rd, of course, is the Hiroshima museum, which showcase the what happened when the A-bomb detonated. 4th, if you include the ordinary fountain. one can become a bit emotional when walking through this park.
