“Near train station but quiet”

Keio Plaza Hotel

Jun 12, 2008

The hotel is 1 block away from Sapporo train station. Although it is near a train station, it is very quiet. The hotel is very clean. The room is spacious. The breakfast at the hotel is great - mix of Japanese food and bread/pastries.
The train station has a lot of eateries, shops and departmental store (Daimaru). Daimaru's basement has many food carts which are affordable. After 7pm, the supermarket's sushi and sashimi are sold at 30% to 50% discount. Remember to ask for soy sauce (so-you) and chopsticks.
The hotel is also walking distance to the Botanical gardens.

Had a perfectly good stay at the Keio Plaza. Nothing massively wrong with the place, but nothing spectacular about it either.

The one noteworthy thing is that this place has about 20 restaurants in it. I kid you not. It's actually ridiculous. They're all a bit pricey compared to average street prices though. And amazingly, the hotel Concierge are actually very good at pointing out restaurants in the nearby area.

Given the nearness of Shinjuku, this hotel has a convenient location with the Metro nearby.

A good value stay in Tokyo.

“Pricey Mainstream”

Keio Plaza Hotel

Nov 10, 2007

My friend booked this hotel for me because it is near his University apartment in Sapporo. I paid 16,000 yen a night for a twin room for my son and myself, which is significantly more than I paid at other hotels on this trip, even in Tokyo. My friend says he has got better deals previously. He also sometimes uses their pool, though it was out of commission when I was there.

This price does not include breakfast: you can go to the buffet downstairs for a rapacious 1,800 each. Much better to grab a pastry or some noodles nearby.

There is wired internet in the room. If you need a computer, you have to pay in the lobby.

As others have noted, it is a bit of a walk from the station, but not unbearably far.

The room window does not open, and the bathroom is not well ventilated.

“Very good - 4.5 out of 5”

Keio Plaza Hotel

Nov 7, 2007

I was very impressed with this hotel. My room had evidently been renovated fairly recently and was tastefully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom even came with a remote control for the toilet! The room wasn't particularly spacious but hardly claustrophobic either, the only thing I would query is the bizarre window between the bathroom and bedroom.

Location: Excellent, situated in Shinjuku, one of the largest entertainment district, its only a few blocks away from the JR and Metro station. Within a block you'll find plenty of convenience stores, restaurants, stores, and arcades. Perfect when you don't feel like venturing far from your hotel. Beyond that are large department stores like Tokyu Hands, Mylords, and Takashimaya. Everything is nearby so it provides plenty of options on your activities, you can relax in Shinjuku or venture off with ease.

Service: Everyone in the hotel was helpful and tried their best despite language barriers. Foreign currency exchange was easy, they do both traveler checks and cash. Some hotels only accept one option over the other, but Keio was very easy and minimal paperwork as well.

Room: Small, but that's standard in Tokyo. The view of the Metropolitan Tower was nice and the city lights looked great at night. The room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was very clean as well. Only flaw was the decor was a bit old, but I think they are still in the process or renovating their rooms. I'm not too sure about it, but we definitely did not get the ones featured on their website. Still, its perfectly fine. All I needed was a clean, comfortable, and quiet room so I can sleep after a long day in Tokyo.

Transportation: Just walk a few blocks and you'll find JR & Metro stations easily. There are plenty of entrances for both these stations so its not difficult to find. Locals will be more than willing to help you. Airport Limousine drops off right here, make sure to buy those tickets because: 1. it makes transportation from and to the airport easier and 2. they offered a great special where when we purchase on AL ticket, we get a one-day unlimited use metro ticket for only 100 yen more. Its a great deal, considering those tickets normally cost 700 yen! I did not use the bus while I was in Tokyo, found the metro and some exercise sufficient enough.
