“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2012

Great view from the hotel room, clean and big room. Child friendly. Close to the station any many places to eat and shop. We also got a good deal from hotels.com? It is also close to the tam that takes youto Mt Moiwa

We found the service at this hotel to be very good .The receptionists were always cheerful and helpful.Their is a lift at Nakajima koen station and it is only five minutes walk so we found no trouble with suitcases . Travel using the subway is good value .A day ticket on Sunday only 500 yen and week days 800 yen.We were able to visit all the tourist sights using public transport and can recommend Hokkaido Village ,Mt moiwa at night ,and Otaru plus the parks .The meals in the restaurant are quite a fair price considering the price of food in the shops - £1 for one banana -.We were on the 16th floor and had a great view across to the hills.

Room Tip: high floors low numbers for the view

Very nice hotel, large room (junior suite type) for a quite affordable rate. Bathroom divided in three sections: bathtub and shower in a separate closet (as a small onsen) and another one for the washlet (heated with electronic bidet as common in Japan). Sink in the middle with any possible amenities. Great view. Perfect lighting. Convenient location at walking distance from to the lively Susukino area full of restaurants and night life. Impeccable service. Quite comfortable beds with two choices of pillows. Super breakfast (not inexpensive though) with choice of Japanese food or more western.

Room Tip: Top floors

Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu is a little bit out of way.Clean, adequate room size,(but the toilet room is too small as other japanese hotel.)We loved the breakfast there, good milk, the restaurant facing a cute garden.Price fair, staff friendly. As a whole, pretty nice place to stay.

The hotel is 7-10 mins walk from the Nakajima Koen Metro Station. The way to the hotel is a bit quiet at night. If your aim is to go shopping, i would rather suggest to have a hotel near JR Sapporo station or Susukino station.

The hotel is newly furnished and quite nice. I stayed in the single room for 2 nights and it is not those mini-sized rooms that are usually seen in Japan.

My room rate include breakfast and you can choose to have western style or Japanese style breakfast. I had western style breakfast and it's just ok, not a lot of variety but you'll be full.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2007

I stayed at this hotel during the 2007 Snow Festival.

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the closest subway station (Nakashima Koen station) but that station does not have escalators so if you plan to take a lot of luggage, don't take the subway. It's a good base for exploring Sapporo since Nakashima Koen station is only 1 station away from Odoru. The first time finding the way from the subway station to the hotel entrance could be a bit tricky since the hotel entrance is on a back street. There are at least 2 convenience stores near the hotel so if you want some cheap food, snacks or drinks you could get them there. There are otherwise no restaurants or cafe nearby except a small noodle shop.

The hotel is nice, clean and safe. The room is very comfortable, clean and roomy. They have all sorts of channels on the room TV, including English and Chinese channels.

During the Snow Festival period they had a special buffet. The food at the buffet was not terribly good and I would not recommend eating at the hotel restaurants.

One gripe was the staff was polite and friendly if you could speak Japanese (and I could speak some) but they spoke almost no English and as a result the service was not terribly welcoming for foreigners. When I arrived late afternoon for check in my room was not ready, it took them around 30 minutes to have the room ready for me. I received a fax from my family which was not delivered to me until they time I checked out.

  • Liked — Cleaniness, room is comfortable. Convenient location.
  • Disliked — Staff does not speak English, restaurant/front desk service not terribly good.
