While staying in Sapporo, I became interested in learning more about the Ainu. After taking the 60 minute bus ride to the Hokkaido Ainu Center, I was a little disappointed. Perhaps it would be better when there is not a lot of snow on the ground (there are many outside features to enjoy), but there was not a lot to see inside the main center. For example, there are no pictures of the Ainu - only examples of their clothing, bowls, hunting instruments, etc.

If the Centre were closer to Sapporo, I would recommend visiting it, but for the one hour bus ride - it just wasn't worth it.

Having said that, it appeared they were adding on to the facility, so perhaps there will be more to see in the future.
