This hotel is very well located, a short walk to the main train station and shopping.

The lobby is grand and stylish. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Be sure to book only the comfort floor or better. Anything less and you will get an older room in the annex. The comfort floor rooms are very spacious for Japan and have nice simple modern furnishings and comfortable beds.

Excellent experience overall.

This hotel is located in central Sapporo and is a convenient 5-10 minute walk from the JR station. It must be built in the 1930's and the design, the windows, the facilities or the bathroom are rather "old looking" but the hotel is generally very clean and well maintained.
The staff is helpful and shows good attention to detail. The breakfast is superb and the corn soup, the milk, the sausages and the eggs are simply unforgettable. Lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurants are rather expensive but the food is fresh and very tasty indeed.

The hotel has several annexes but in general it looks and feels like it is from the pre WWII era in its overall decoration. The buttons on the lifts, the carpet, the switches in the bedroom, the tiny bathtub etc all are from another era - which is actually tastefully maintained. The heating is adequate but without much room for adjustment.

Overall, this is a very nicely kept hotel which is of value for money. Only drawback might be its age - if one prefers modern luxurious hotels.
