“Convenient Location in Sapporo with Tatami experience”

Our very last night in Hokkaido, we wanted to find a Japanese style inn which is surprisingly hard to find in Sapporo. Hotel is within walking distance of JR station and main entertainment/ eating areas of Sapporo.

Clean basic Japanese "washitsu" tatami room with Japanese tea, sweet, and yukata robe to wear for each guest. We actually travel with our own down pillows to avoid hard Japanese style ones, so we were very comfortable. Each room has its own western modular bath so common in Japan but there is a common ofuro Japanese bath which was not as large as I expected after travelling to many public onsen the previous week near Niseko.

I didn't really shop the price around since we stayed only 1 night and did not take the meal options since Sapporo has so many good places to eat. We were 3 adults, 3 children, taking 2 rooms that converted to $340 USD.

We have booked this ryokan for three nights. Rooms are extremly big and a public bath is also available.

The ryokan has a convenient location close to JR station.

I would not recommend to take the offer for dinner. The food is really good but a little bit expensive.

If you like to make the experience of a stay in a "classic" ryokan this is a good place!

It is a very good traditional family owned ryokan 10 minutes on foot from the station. It is the equivalent of a 3 stars western hotel. I liked the very real japanese feeling while I did not like the hard and unconfortable pillows of the futon. By the way, be aware that you have to be open minded to the real japanese customs!

“Wonderful Traditional Inn in Heart of City”

Nakamuraya Ryokan

We were able to book this traditional ryokan via the Japan Welcome Inns and found it absolutely delightful. They have only Japanese-stle rooms, some with en-suite facilities. It is family-owned and although their English is very spotty, they made every effort to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable. They have a communal bath which was clean and well tended. The highlight of the stay for us were the optional meals served in the rooms for an extra charge--a good solid Japanese breakfast and a sumptuous dinner. We requested meals with no meat, and despite their very limited English skills, they delivered fabulously. It is located within a 10 minute walk of the train station.
