“Just so sweet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

This place is about cakes, cream, chocolates and all things sweet. The garden and park has many interactive things to enhance your photo posing. Very colorful, fun and a happy place. Just follow the embedded paw print inside the building which will take you through the circuit of the history of chocolates, exhibits and how the famous Shiroi Koibito biscuits are made. Interesting to note is the automated and clean factory.

There is a cafe on the ground floor and please try their fresh cream white swiss roll. So yummy...

“An Attraction for All Ages”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The English style Tudor House where the Ishiya chocolate factory is located, catches one's eyes in this tradtional Japanese precinct on the outskirt of Sapporo; but there is much more behind the gate to thrill visitors of all ages and races.

Strolling around the garden wonderland surrounding the building already provides much fun and joy, with its miniature houses for the entertainment of the kids, picturesque rose garden for flower lovers, and refined landscaping with its heritage bridge, pavillion and conservatory. Inside the building, there are niceties for everyone to enjoy: counters for selling the Ishiya flagship prodiucts like the famous butter cookies sandwiched with white chocolate, yummy soft ice-cream, cafeteria for snacks and different kinds of chocolate products. There is a toy room and a music room for display of exhibits, as well as the museum and chocolate production demonstration for which a fee is payable.

Children would love this place which is educational for adults as well. The attraction should be high on the agenda of a visit to Sapporo.

“Heaven of Chocolate and Candy (チョコレートやキャンディーの天国)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

This factory have some beautiful park outside, complete with a small train to ride into the inside of the factory. Ah! dont' miss the beautiful spot for taking picture in a hole right in the middle of beautiful flowers just near the main door. When you walk inside the store, you can buy the famous chocolate for a price that acceptable on the right side, when you take a look at the left side, you will find a place to see and learn how to make a candy from scratch! and of course you can buy those hand mande candy too. Don't forget to visit the second floor which have the japanese traditional toy and other unique item you can found historical.

Conclusion : great place to visit for those wanna buy some chocolate and candy for beloved and friends. In my opinion those chocolate and candy was awesome and delicious! Oisihi desu! (おいしい)

“A Must See In Sapporo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We spent half a day there and the following were our experiences :

Pro =>
a) It's a very pleasant place with a beautiful blooming rose garden. The garden will be bare in other seasons.
b) There is a candy shop that makes (with demonstrations through a glass wall), gives free samples and sells delicious hard rock candy.
c) The self-guided factory tour is amazing. They show you how the 'white lover chocolate' is assembled which smells so good.
d) There is mini train ride mainly for young kids which goes around a cutely decorated house.
e) There is a display room which shows old toys.
f) Free entrance except the self-guided factory tour.
g) There is a musical show every hour at the garden, which has a lovey surprise (bubbles) at the end.

Con =>
a) It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the subway station to the Park. May not be comfortable in adverse weather.
b) The restaurant was close when when we visited. We went to a fast food restaurant that sold 'Burger Patty with Rice' across the road which was delicious and value for money.
c) There is a small cafe next to the candy and chocolate shop which sells limited drinks and ice-cream but not tea or cakes.

We will definitely go there again! It is a must see in Sapporo in any season.

“Not everyday to see a working sweet factory”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

This Ishiya Chocolate Factory produces all the cookies for all of japan (according to the staff I asked). So if you buy them from there you get it fresh!!! The price is slightly higher by a few yen maybe because of getting it so soon. You can watch them make the cookies in the factories and learn about the whole process of chocolate making.

Try the ice cream here also! For 300 yen you can try a soft cone vanilla or 260 yen for chocolate. You can even buy some very cool candies that are too precious to eat. All throughout and outside they have various things to take photos with. Miniature rose gardens, minture houses for kids to sit in, a train and other things.

If you go inside take a look at the toy museum and other memorabilia very cool!
When their clock strikes the hour everything in the park is interlinked to the clock and becomes "alive"!

Easy to pass the time away.
