“Great location and Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

Stayed here for 3 nites, in general things are really good, the only downside is I had to walk a bite to get to the hotel car park and it's outdoor, which was not a good idea in a Jan weather in Sapporo, but the room size was great, I stayed in a double twin, which was big enough for 2 ppl, the bed was great, has a tub, and welcome give as well.
Location is great too, I would recommend ppl to stay here, since the price is so friendly.

The twin room is really big. Hotel room is really clean and hotel staffs sevice is fantastic. Hotel is near the subway and exits through the Tanukoji shopping street. Pivot shopping centre is right in front of the hotel.

I had spent 2 nights there with my honey. Great location and excellent services! The staff there are soooo sweet and helpful. We had early check-in and they can tell us to come back on exact time( unlike my unpleasant experience in Malaysia hotel). It's next to the city centre with so many restaurants and shops around. Very well furnished room, absolutely a great choice for budget traveller.

Good for family travel with kid. no so far from subway, easy to use it to JR station, very convenient 。The “狸小路” street is at the backdoor,a lot clothing store and other store at here。some problem is no trattorias nearby, must go little far to find some。room very clear and quiet, and excellent service。

Terrific location with exit to Tanuki-koji Arcade (lots of shops & restaurants). Also close to Odori Station (subway). Very modern rooms, with a restaurant in the hotel building. Free Wi-Fi in lobby.

This hotel is an excellent choice for budget-minded travelers who still want modern rooms and excellent service from the hotel staff.

Conveniently located in the Tanukoji Arcade and close to Susukino entertainment district, escalator down to the Pole Town/Aurora underground shopping arcades, short walk to Odori Park and Nijo Fish Market. The hotel is a good value, room was a little small, but I was hardly in the room, so it was ok, room had a humidifier. Restaurant served good food, the staff was very helpful and front desk employees spoke English.

Room Tip: Non-smokers: Ask for a non-smoking room at the front desk. If you don't you may want to change...

If I were to recommend a place to stay in Sapporo, I will definitely recommend Richmond Hotel Sapporo Odori in a heartbeat. It is value for money and is near everything- Susukino Station (5 minute walk), Susukino entertainment district (5 minute walk), JR Sapporo Station (15 minute walk), Odori Park (10 minute walk).

There is another Richmond Hotel nearer to the JR Sapporo Station which is more expensive. If proximity to the JR Sapporo Station is not that big of a deal, you should definitely consider this one.

It is easier to find this place if you walk through the Tanuki Koji shopping arcade.

An extremely efficient way of checking in- you get your card, scan it at the machine, insert your credit card/cash, and the room card becomes valid. The receptionists are also conversant in English.

The receptionist also handed us a packet containing the following- face mask, sponge, rubber band etc. This is the first time I'm actually receiving such a package. A small thought goes a long way indeed.

The room is very small- but by Japanese standards, it seemed pretty okay. The bathroom was also bigger than the bathrooms I have seen in other places in Japan.

Another plus is that besides the free wifi access (which actually works in the room), the hotel also provides free internet access at the lobby.

For one night, we paid 7000 JPY for the room. While it may not be situated right smack next to the JR Sapporo Station, I think it's still of good value- book early!

Tip: There's a shop right opposite the hotel which sells souvenirs of Hokkaido- it is duty free if you buy 10501 JPY and above worth of souvenirs- which is actually a pretty good deal for last minute shoppers. Plus they will help you pack it into boxes if you intend to check them in.
