“Good location, peaceful surroundings.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

A short weekend trip from Shanghai, an hour on the high speed train (4 stops) and you are in beautiful Hangzhou. The Hyatt regency is about 20 minutes from the railway station. Taxis are difficult to get (compared to shanghai) so do arrange for a hotel car to pick up. Hotel impressed us with a warm welcome, clean surroundings and a bigger than expected room, enough to comfortably fit a rollaway bed. Bathrooms are fresh, clean and large. Dinner at the Chinese restaurant, 28 Hubin was good. Extensive menu and well priced menu. Breakfast was average. The location of the hotel is excellent, close to shops, restaurants and the gorgeous lake. The pedestrian street just in front of the hotel is safe and well lit. Traffic is very bad as the streets can't cope with the mass tourism. Rent a bicycle if you can or else be prepared to travel at a very slow pace.

It is wonderful experience living in this good hotel. I parked my car in its underground car park. Used VIP card to get a view room. All equipment is best and cozy. In front of the hotel is the lake which makes you shout. It is what I need. You cannot miss this hotel if you visit this lovely city. I bet you must love it.

Stayed at the Hyatt during our last visit to Hangzhou in June 2014. The biggest plus for the hotel is the convenient location by the west lake. You are walking distance from a number of restaurants, shopping & well as scenic spots. There are quite a few boarding points for various boat cruises around the hotel. The musical fountains just outside the hotel on the lake, make for great views during the evenings.

The rooms are a reasonable size. If you want to enjoy the views then ask for a lake facing room as the rooms on the other side look out into the street at the back (so no view at all)
We were traveling with small kids so wee happy with the indoor swimming pool which is otherwise a small size but good enough to keep the kids entertained.

The hotel concierge can book tickets for the show (impressions on the west lake) from the hotel itself which saves you a trip to the ticket window (a good 20 minutes can drive)

The breakfast buffet does not boast of a great spread other than Chinese. There is the basic eggs & breads & cold cuts but not very great.

Stayed two nights at the Hyatt Regency at Hangzhou for work. Having just stayed recently at the Regency in Perth, I have to say that the quality and service is maintained across the chain. From check-in to check-out and everything, we were greeted with smiles.

The hotel is next to the famous West Lake, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. There's even a free musical fountain show on the lake in front of the hotel. Shows are throughout the day, we happen to chance upon it walking back after dinner one evening. There are also possibilities to sail around the lake. For those that prefer outside food, there are many nearby choices, so just roam around. We happened to chance upon the "Hangzhou Restaurant" which supposedly has been around since the 1920s. Do try the "clay" chicken (i.e. chicken wrapped in lotus leaf and baked in its own clay "container").

The rooms are of very good size with everything that you need. Levels 8 and 9 seems to be reserved for Regency Club rooms while levels 6 and 7 are non-smoking floors. This being China, please do request for non-smoking rooms if you are sensitive. Didn't swim in the pool though if you have "lake"-view, you should be able to see the pool. I thought the gym was a bit on the small side... if memory serves me right, there's only 3 treadmills. Breakfast was fantastic with the right mix of Western and Asian choices.

Taxi service at peak periods seems to be a challenge. So please plan ahead. And traffic jams are quite common given the large number of cars on the road. The subway line 1 is up and running with work started on other lines. So hopefully in time to come, things will be better.

Hangzhou is well known for its scenic spots. Unfortunately for me, this is a work trip. And the constant rain didn't help with visibility either. Still, driver told us best time to visit is probably October when the weather tends to be better and past the summer heat.

Stayed here for two nights for a company retreat in one of the standard rooms. Room was decent sized for Chinese standards, adequately equipped as expected. Breakfast was pretty good at the hotels cafe which served a good variety of western and Chinese styled breakfast. It may be slightly inconvenient to get a cab in the hotel though. Since the beginning of 2014, it seems like vehicles are restricted from entering the waterfront area which is linked to the hotel. We resorted to using the Chinese versions of uber to get a cab (unfortunately the app is entirely in mandarin).

My husband and i always come back forhave the dinner buffet. It is amazing. The food is nice and have lots of options. The buffet package is great and the place is cozy.

The staff are very friendly.

And after dinner, on our way out we are always amazed by the chocolates they have displayed. They tasted good too..

Can't wait to be back in hangzhou and go to hyatt for dinner.

We went by car from Shanghai, covering 200 kilometers, and checked in the Hotel. Instant check-in and excellent room on 3rd floor gave us much needed rest and relief. The hotel is almost in semi-circle shape and we could see the beautiful swimming pool complex built within this semi-circle. From our room we could also see the view of the famous west lake which was across the road. After taking necessary rest we went for a walk on the boulevard round the west lake. A very nice and picturesque seen.

Buffet breakfast was served with many choices and we were quite full for the day. Very good and tasty courses for dinner was liked by us. Service was really good, prompt, and courteous. All other facilities like Gym, spa, were available. Nice we could stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room from where you can see the Lake clearly.
