“Comfortable hotel but lots of street noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

As said in previous reviews, this hotel used to be a RADISSON hotel. Since the Chinese management took over there has been some changes , not for the better though.
Okay let me start with the hotel overhaul: nice comfortable rooms, clean, spacious. Exactly what a Radisson would offer you. Restaurant had a great breakfast buffet, beautiful seafood buffet (did not make use of it). An Australian chef who really want to keep the standard up... As Hangzhou is building a new metro system it is one construction site, which causes lots of traffic jams and do not get me started on the level of the drilling noise (which by the way starts at 6 am!)

So what is it then that makes it not getting all of the approvals?
Like in most hotels: communications. We arrived quite late at the hotel as our flight was delayed for several hours. The night manager on duty was alone behind the reception and barely spoke English; he could not answer our questions as he did not know what we were trying to say

The general manager returned from dinner or so and he was able to assist us. The next day - as we were having a bite to eat after our wonderful day visiting the sights - he came and sat with us and was genuinely interested in hearing our point of views on improving the service as he really wanted to get more and more clientele from the US and Europe.

As said in all of my reviews on my Chinese trips; it all comes down to make yourself understood and being able to provide the solution if not at least an answer.

But yes I would stay in this hotel again and do recommend it

Like other 5-star hotels, Landison has also done well in room facilities, worth to mention is that the view from the window is terrific, prosperous urban landscape, amazing west lake and wulin square are just in front of my eyes. During my stay here, I also had a great time in Valentino Italian, where I could have a taste of delicacies and enjoy beautiful sceneries through out the window alonging with wonderful music surround me. But its transportation around really annoyed me. Maybe due to its location is near city center and shopping malls, like Intime store located right in front, traffic here is really poor. Do hope the transportation here can be improved.

Stayed for a night. Spacious room with very comfy bed. Staff are well trained, friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was surprisingly good with ranch of selections from Chinese dim sums to French toast.

This is a grand hotel, which located in the center of the city, there were a lot of shops and restaurant around. The entrance of this hotel was in a small street, it was so intresting to observe the local people's life by walking around this area. The staff did speak very well English, the service was just great, they took care of their guests personally. The lobby manager was always present in the lobby, he was willing to give his guest any information they liked. The room was really spacious, it was a little bit old, but extremly clean, if you would pay more money, you could get a room which has a view of West Lake. The internet connection was speedy, the television programm was various, including English language, you could adjust the temperature of the air conditioner in the room. the only problem was that we can not open the window. The breakfast was very delicious, and the lunch buffet was surprisingly good. The chef cook could speak English too, he had learned how to cook western food abroad, we got oyster and various fish dished and meat, the dessert comprised of icecream and cakes and different fruits.
Just on the next day, when I checked out, there came a valet, he could not get rid of his smart phone all the time. The swimming pool was crowded, it was more for the kids to play.

I stay here regularly when in Hangzhou and if you can get a good rate on ctrip about 600rmb it is well worth this rate. The beds are very comfortable, bedrooms and bathrooms very clean. Whilst there is not so much English speaking staff as when Raddison had it, the staff are still friendly, helpful and if can not understand you will call on another staff that can. I don't take breakfast, as it is far too expensive RMB150. If you are looking for Hyatt luxury, then this hotel you will be disappointed but if it is a comfortable, clean room with western TV channels you are looking for, then this delivers!

This used to be Radisson hotel Hangzhou. Then chinese owners took it and it became Landisson Hangzhou, owners assured that they would keep same quality standard as Radisson as they had worked with them for many years. But over the years, quality has been declining.
The lunch buffet is a total rip off, grossly overpriced and with few western dishes. Other than that, it's just another chinese hotel (quite overpriced)

If you want a chinese hotel, near Zhejiang International Hotel (Tiyuchanglu near the elevated road) is similar with much better prices.

And if you want a western hotel with prices similar to Landisson, head for Marriott (or go to Oakwood residences for good value 5 star rooms)

There is a construction site nearby that can be annoying if you try to sleep through the morning

Room Tip: Choose high rooms ad Wulin Square and around is an area with heavy traffic. Ask rooms NOT facing th...

Stayed here when it was still under the Radisson Brand, nice big rooms, good locations, service was fine, good choice of restaurants, well kept hotel, nice decor, no complaints.

It seems in recent years though there are a lot more options available for hotels in HangZhou and with the rebranding it's hard to tell if I would go back. But if the rates are good, I would say it's worth a look.

Room Tip: Executive Rooms, much more space available and quieter.
