The hotel was clean and had a friendly staff. It is a five minute walk to West Lake and a 25 minute cab ride from the train station (depending on traffic). You should definitely let them know if you want a smoking or non-smoking room beforehand. They gave me a smoking room because I forgot to let them know in advance. However, they they were willing to change my room the next night (which I didn't end up doing after all).

I have been to Hangzhou a couple of times and normally stay at the Hyatt. This time it was a staff outing and therefore we stayed at a more budget orientated hotel.
Well what a great hotel at one third the price of the Hyatt but with better views.
Unlike most Chinese managed hotels this one even had soft comfortable beds and it even felt okay to walk on the carpets in bare feet. The rooms are a good size and comfortable and have most amenities required including some English TV stations.
The lobby is nicely furnished and the restaurant on the seventh floor serves a great buffet breakfast but worth visiting just for the spectacular views over the lake.
This is a great value hotel which I would recommend if you are on a bit of a budget. Don't get in confused with the Lakeview Hotel next to the Hyatt (the Wanghu is also know as the Lakeview) which is a dive!!

Position wise this was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our tour of China.
The location on the banks of the lake and the first class qaulity of the hotel made it a pleasure to stay here.
The food and the view from the 7th floor restaraunt alone is worth the price of one night's accomodation.
A great hotel that I would not mind staying again in the future.
