“Must Do”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Special, beautiful presentation and incredible flavours. It is not surprising that this is one of Asia's top restaurants. What is amazing is that it is a hotel! But you won't know it from the food to presentation to the atmosphere.
Have the Dong Po Pork!! mmmmm.

“Drinks and Dinner in Hangzhou”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

Pre dinner drinks in Hyatt's Bellevue Bar were very good. I had the orange and elderflower mojito which was delicious. We then walked down to 28 Hubin Road Restaurant. We had foie gras, scallop, wagyu beef, and fried rice which were all very good. The belly of pork pyramid was also nicely presented and tasted good. We had wanted to try the Beggars Chicken but that was sold out by the time we reached the restaurant at 8.15pm a few other items were also sold out meaning that we had to substitute dishes. Having said this, we did go on a Chinese National Holiday and Hangzhou was heaving during the day so it's entirely possible that they simply could not cope with demand on the day. We ordered deep fried shrimp and the shrimp were very small and not shelled which made them a lot of effort for little reward, so this dish was left uneaten on the table. Dessert was green tea tiramisu which lacked the traditional punch, so a tad disappointing. Wine list was well priced and the red we had was lovely. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. On the whole standard was very good and we enjoyed the evening! I would recommend a visit if your in Hangzhou!

“Total disaster”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

Had high expectations, unfortunately was a total disaster :( tasteless dishes - far far away from the european tastes, fish with fishbones with sticky souce, springrolls without souce, wine under the averge, even SanPelegrino doesn't taste like original one. Staff dont know the english, have no idea about what is in the menu and can't present the dish.

“Classic Hangzhou cuisine with innovative surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We managed to walk in to have a table twice in this restaurant on a short trip to Hangzhou. The restaurant is of nice contemporary decor, dining area well spaced. Both times the service was consistently attentive.

The food is very authentic Hangzhou style. My wife and I favored the traditional steamed fish in sweet vinegar sauce while my son gulped down the whole plate of wok-fried fresh water shrimps with green tea aroma. I was delighted to find out simpler dishes also prepared with great attention to details, such as the seasonal bamboo shoots with wild vegetables and deep-fried spicy diced chicken, with rich flavor, balanced but not overwhelming.

Of course to my wife, the high note is the "heavenly" Jasmine Tea Tiramisu, which was the very reason she wanted to go back to the same restaurant. Although not with the same sweet tooth as her, I must admit it is quite an treat.
