“Great hotel and top quality service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

From start to finish, the trip to Hangzhou Four Seasons was great. I had contacted them in advance for some advice on various things and they were very responsive and giving me great information and never trying to up-sell anything.

When at the hotel, I was always greeted by name and the concierge was always there giving me advice on where to go, and telling me where was going to be busy that day. I can't say enough about how good the concierge service was.

The rooms are large and very pleasant with classic Four Seasons style mixed with Chinese. Hotel restaurant was great, albeit pricey.

The location is great and you can walk to West Lake very quickly and spend your days there before walking back. So there's not too much need to get taxis unless going somewhere specific on the other side of the lake.

Taxi's were a problem, both getting one to go out and getting one back. Am not sure if this is always like this in Hangzhou or taxis did not want to pick up at the Four Seasons and take you back there. Most did not know it and you have to show them where to go when you are close.

This is an expensive hotel and I was not sure about spending the money for this trip but looking back I have no regrets and it was worth every penny.

I just returned from Hangzhou staying at the Four Seasons. Their services are just super. I emailed the concerige a week before requesting them to book high-speed train tickets from Hangzhou to Shanghai and also the evening show at the West Lake. They did it for me without extra service charge and surprisingly they didn't even ask for credit card guarentee and did it all for me .... Tickets handed to me while I check-in.
More touching is their hospitality and personal care. We went to Aman Fu Yuen for lunch and could not catch a taxi back to town. The porter at Aman called up the concerige at Four Seaons informing them they have a guest wanting to go back to Four Seasons. Four Seasons sent a porter to hail and taxi in town and pick us up at Aman... Again NO extra charge, I just paid for the metered fare.
Stayed in a Deluxe room with a spacious balcony. The room is spacious with separate living area and a dress room. The balcony is also spacious. The Chinese restaurant also serves very good food.....
Would definitely stay in Four Seaons for my next trip to Hangzhou and would like to highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Room Tip: Good service, convinent location and spacious room

Set on the beautiful and historic West Lake, this hotel is a gorgeous addition to the neighborhood. A combination of modernity and classic Chinese charm, the hotel is picturesque and makes one feel fully immersed in the local culture. It is minutes away from the West Lake Impressions theatre, and close enough to the business and college to be convenient, and yet far enough away to allow one to relax at the end of the day. This is truly one of the best hotels I have stayed at in my 30+ years of business travel.

... just don't take your 2-year old :)

Stayed in a Grand Premier room and the only problem was that I didn't want to leave. Loved the annex and near private view of the zen-like pond.
The position of the hotel is superb and very secluded and I can see why some guests have problems getting there by taxi.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011 via mobile

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, a stay 2 night get 1 free night promotion. The hotel is not very well known by the locals, we had to ask the taxi driver to go to hangzhou botanical garden then gave further direction. Plus point is that it is just by the famous xihu west lake, we jogged to west lake every morning.

Rooms are very nice and well equipped, four seasons standard. I especially like the bathroom.

Staff - attitude varies. We had very good chat with the gym staff. They were really hospitable and friendly. However, the concierge staff were very snobbish. When we asked for public transport to nearby location like longjing village they were reluctant to give information and were very shocked at why four seasons guest needed to take public transport. A well known fact is that getting a cab in hangzhou is very difficult. We didn't see why a five star hotel guest cannot take public transport. When we asked for more fruits from the free fruit basket in the room, they refused to give. We have never encountered such stingy five star hotel.

Well, for food we need to pay for , I.e restaurant , the quality is good. The braised pork is a must try. They sliced the pork into hundred layers which takes a lot of expertise from the chef. Other Chinese food were very good too.

We would not like to stay there again but would go back for the food.
