“Wonderful to wander the entire wall distance, great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

The ancient city wall of Xian is huge! We walked for a bit, then rented pushbikes to travel another half of the distance, then walked the final quarter again. There are several towers and other historic buildings dotted along the wall, and with views down into the city, there was always something to see. Being able to rent bikes was a great idea, and added a novelty to the day. It is so huge, that crowds of visitors were spread out. We were there to see a group of 'soldiers' in their historic costumes come up the stairs, march for a section, then head back down the stairs. Great to see. We went back at night time to look at the wall and towers lit up - beautiful!
A must see and do while in Xian!

“Worth a brief visit”

It is worth climbing the stairs, but not really too much to see. Soak up the atmosphere and stroll along...

“A nice bike ride”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

It's a cool 90 minutes biking on the city walls. There's a lot of smog so the view isn't always perfect.

“Worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

It was a scorcher of a day when we visited but we hired a double bike ( 100 yuan I think) and set of around the wall it's a 15km bike ride all paved no cars or if your lazy take an electric golf cart bus. You can just ride between corner towers and enjoy regular ice cream breaks at the kiosks along the way. Allow 3 hrs to enjoy but if you just want to get up take a photo and have a shorter stroll an hour would be ok - but you would kick your self later as it's a really interesting walk. There was an entrance fee but it was so cheap I forgot was it was - maybe $5 aus????? Anyway it's worth it
