“Hotel Needs Updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

This hotel is centrally located but a bit outdated. Wifi only located in the lobby with sporadic connection. No air conditioning so we attempted to open the windows. It turns out that you have to call house keeping for them to come and open the window for you.

The hotel used to be the Hyatt and was where Bill Clinton stayed when he visited Xian (They are very proud of that visit). It is a little dated but centrally located, not too far from the City Wall. It had an excellent breakfast, service was fine. It was suggested by our travel agent and was a good place to stay. If there was a downside, it was a little hard to get to as they are constructing a new Metro subway in Xian and the streets are torn up in the vicinity. Al;l else was good.

This hotel was 'evidently', according to a plaque in the lobby...a 5* hotel. But...no longer. The lobby level as lovely, as was the Oasis atrium area and the breakfast area. But...much of the carpeting where I walked was permanently stained...including our room's. And..the 2 sofas in our room were worn and the upholstery had a couple of holes. The room itself was a lovely, large size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was fine...except that the shower door was broken and would not close properly. Breakfast was very good. And the location of the hotel was quite good...tho' with Masses of Construction now going on in this section of Xi'an...one might look elsewhere, as traffic was perhaps worse due to the construction. And 'the pool' was really a LARGE hot tub...rather than a 'real swimming pool'...which I thought was a Negative. All in all...I would compare prices of other hotels...and look for one that is not quite as shabby.

Room Tip: We did ask for a room with a sofa...and were changed from a small dark room looking at a building to...

Location is good - close walk to City Wall and maybe 15-20 minute walk to Drum/Bell Tower. There is a very good night market nearby with great local outdoor eating. Rooms a re very appointed with a nice Chinese design touch. Breakfast was VERY good and the wifi service is excellent. Very friendly staff and good lounge/reception areas.

I have stayed in other hotels in Xian and would stay here ahead of tem.

Beautiful Oasis area but this is the only place with Wi-Fi. Rooms were OK but the bed was hard and the walls plain. All areas seemed clean and the facilities were quite good with a helpful tourist guide on site. Room service stopped at 11pm which isn't late enough especially if travelling. Not far from the City walls and the Muslim quarter the bell tower etc. Staff generally helpful but some struggled to understand English language and custome.

Room Tip: Cheaper to book on line than directly. Rooms have no Wi-Fi but a laptop with an Ethernet connection...

This hotel is in a good location of Xi'an, accessible to several restaurants and other places of interest. We felt the room was in good shape. The beds were more comfortable than other hotels in China. The elevators were nice, the lobby was attractive and the service was solid. The bathroom was decent too.

It had a western feel, which is always nice once you get to the Chinese interior.

Stayed two nights late May as part of a China Best Tour touring group - all 40 of us. Location wise you could wander out in the street and be captivated by the many shops and restaurants in the area which was great, but the hotel itself was disappointing. The rooms were Just OK, but the entire property could only be described as tired, and way overdue for a reno. Our room had but half a roll of toilet paper and no spare. When we asked for another roll - that's exactly what we got - no spare. Everyone in our group commented on the same thing - must be a paper shortage in Xian. Also there are no power point points by the bed, and as I use a CPAP machine I had to get an extension lead from the front desk. Breakfast was average at best, but nothing out of the ordinary and none of the food could be described as hot - I'm being generous at luke warm. I got the impression that if our tour group was not there - the place would be empty.
Would I stay there again by choice - no
