“Very Nice Central Hotel In Xi'An”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

This is a very nice modern hotel in the center of hectic and fun Xi'An. We arrived exhausted from group tourist travel and found this to be an oasis of modern hotel amenities.
We walked to all the wonderful street activities nearby to see how the locals enjoy life here in this historic city.

This is a nice hotel, in the middle of the city, a few blocks from the city wall. It is comfortable, clean and good beds. The rooms were spacious. Our room overlooked a the atrium of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was good.

Hotel was ok for a couple of nights but a few major flaws. As previous reviewers have mentioned, many rooms have the open plan bathroom, meaning that the loo cubicle is separated from the bedroom by just a frosted glass door, as is the shower. Otherwise, basin and drying areas are part of the bedroom. We have been married for 5 years but still like some bathroom space! However, we asked if other rooms were available and were given one with a regular bathroom immediately. We ate in the hotel on the first night and the food and service were both poor. Steak was fatty and the recommended chicken curry was like a rice omelette with tomato ketchup drizzled on top. Breakfast also mediocre. The wine list is very limited - 24 red varieties but only 4 whites, of which one was sold out and the others very expensive, other than a very cheap Chardonnay. All in all, poor for a supposed 4/5 star, but fine for a couple of nights.

Spent two nights here and whole experience very good. Hotel clean, rooms and beds good size. Walking distance from Bell and Drum towers, but beware of the roadworks outside. Breakfast was good, with an international variety of food. Free wi-fi in reception.

A nice sized hotel with some interesting interior touches.

The good:
- clean, modern and comfortable rooms.
- centrally located, only 10 minutes walk to bell and drum towers.
- bank of china right next door
- some typical chinese side streets very close to buy cheap beers and essential snacks

The bad:
- their Buffett breakfasts and dinners I found to be quite average given the price (120/189RMB). Not many western options, and those they had were average.
- no wifi in rooms, and patchy in the lobby. A real shame given it's largely international clientele.
- Their tourist map they provide has things marked in the incorrect spots. Best buy a map!

Overall it's a good place to stay if you can get a good deal on Expedia or similar.

Okay, "best" is rarely used by me so this hotel must be special for me to call it this. Firstly, hotels in China often rate themselves 5 star but they would only rate 3 star in reality. This truly deserved its rating. It had a very modern bathroom, large room (we stayed in a King Room) and a huge breakfast Buffett that did replenish very regularly. As a destination for tour groups, they also had a complimentary takeaway coffee container if required. The only drawback in this hotel was that it didn't have a swimming pool. The massage rooms were very modern and didn't act as a front for other unsavoury extras. Would love to come back and stay here both from a quality and convenience aspect.

Not worth the good reviews and the rating given. Too big and disorganised, especially not at all helpful at Reception where if you ask a simple question, such as for a map, they look at you and simply respond that you have one in the room and then start talking to colleagues in Chinese.

Breakfast is not good either, with too many people and not enough food.

I do not recommend it.
